Omega General Help / Annoyed
« on: 30 January 2010, 17:45:58 »
As the title states, I am pretty well annoyed at two things at the moment.

Firstly as the auction cost that I was offered for my omega recently, apparently its not what ppl are looking for, big engined car.

The second at this very web forum for not allowing me to advertise my car for sale to people who live, love and enjoy the Vauxhall Omega, just because I don’t have over 50 post messages…..

All I wanted was for me to Part Company with my car to someone here on this forum to enjoy her like I have for the past 5 years.

I did post a message that lasted all of 10 minutes before admin deleted, without notice or explanation

So what options am I left with, well its either take the trade in, put it on an auction site, or dismantal and sell the parts… seems like a good Idea… probably get more money for her.

Now Im life pondering what to do with her

Omega General Help / MOT Due
« on: 26 May 2009, 20:29:44 »
Guys

MOT is due 20-06-09

I am in a sticky wicket... seem the rear exhaust box has rusted more than sure the rear tail pipe coming out of the rear box is fubar.... to cap that all off I can see a rust point on the mid section box ( near side of the car )

Anyone had to replace part or all of the exhaust system and whats the best price you got...

Not sure if Im getting in a flap about something small, but me thinks a knacked exhaust in a mot fail... not that the rear box is blowing

Omega General Help / Help - Should I Panic Now Or Later

Guys & Gals

Few months ago, had to call the RAC to recover the car, Cam shaft sensor had gone south... anyway go the car to the garage and they advised me to get a new battery as the one I had was leaking

Today while down in the garage I just thought Id pop the hood and have a look around...

I am shocked to find 2 things... 1st theres some oil around the plastic breather pipe...you know the big black one on the left into the trottle body....

And second.. seems that the muppet who changed the last battery did do a good job or cleaning the mess up before putting a replacement in... any ideas how to get rid of that white chalkie battery stuff

I have noticed that theres battery acid could be eating away at some of the paint work...

Someone please  guide me before I go screwing this up.. I am planning in the morning to remove battery and check for leakage... clean any battery acid from body work by means of a wire brush and pressure washer...
Treat any effected areas with some rust proctection....... then remove at big black pipe, clean inspect and refit if not replace

Omg !!!!!!!!!!! :o

Thought I had a rubbish fuel consumption until I looked at some of yours...

Around town mines averaging between 23mpg and 26mpg and on a motorway run shes averaging 34mpg to 38mpg, again all dependant on my right foot

The only time I dont get the above, if a floor it every where in sports mode, but then its fun to blow the carbs out once in a while ;D

Well I checked to tyre last night,

What do you know, it was the bloody tyre, had a screw in it flat down to the floor and I didnt see it

To cap it all of couldnt locate the locking wheel nut fitting  >:(

Finally got the car to the local garage who serviced her last year, who kindly informed me they had placed it in a safe place.... tucked within the picnic mat in the left side pocket

Anyway repair done, no cost involved

Omega General Help / Guide Me Please
« on: 27 March 2009, 23:17:59 »
Hi All

I currently drive a 02 plate 2.6 Estate,

The nearest I have ever got to doing any sort of maintenance on this car is adding some oil, checking a dip stick... usual routine stuff, nothing major.
Have always Had the car serviced and repaired by either a main line dealer or local garage that the company I work for use.

In my earlier years,I thought nothing of doing my own repairs, maybe its me but the concern has ways been if a strewed this car up, it could cost a packet to put right.

As my next service is due in June / July, I am now toying with the idea of doing the service myself for a change and on a plus side, save my self a small fortune..as in the past main line dealers talk the talk and charge you £300 for the pleasure..

My question is..... can seem to get an up to date haynes manual as they dont produce one to cover the year of my vehicle.
So would buying the current one that covers uo to a T reg be Ok

Ive read alot of stuff on here about how to do stuff, seem pretty straight forward.. what do you all reckon....

PS   :D
