Seems to be a lot better Sam.  Done a 400mile+ trip at the weekend and it's not perfect, but a hell of a lot better.  Airflowmeter next and see how it goes.

Just take them out and either leave them overnight in a hot press or near a radiator, or just simply use a heat-gun or hairdryer to heat the glue and then run a stanley knife around the edge to break the seal and then gently prise the lense off.  I only painted the removable surround, which is dead handy to remove.  I simply rubbed them down with a scourer and then gave them 2 coats of etch primer and then 3 coats of Elite Satin Black (best black paint imo) and then used windscreen bond to stick them again.  2-3hrs tops to complete it and just be sure to have the heat going when your priming and painting them and they'll be dry in no time at all.

I think it helps the front a lot makes them a lot more menacing aswell...

Omega General Help / Hesitation :(
« on: 26 April 2012, 10:13:36 »
Hello folks...

Coming home from work yesterday evening on the M-way and I came up to a lorry, went to overtake (more or less full throttle) and about half-way past it the EML came on and the car went into limp mode.  Got the Snap-on plugged on last night and it showed the P1125 Code.  Got it cleared no problem at all and the car has been pretty ok since, but I have noticed that at around 1600rpm and again at 1900rpm there is a hesitation in it :(  Took a quick look on google and it is showing that it could be a few things, but seemingly the 2 most common being either a Air Mass Meter or the Throttle Position Sensor (at the pedal)

Car Details:
2003
2.2 DTI
Single Plug Pump

Any help would be appreciated as I have to do a 400mile+ trip at the weekend and I'd really like it sorted before I go.

Thanks in advance  :)

Sweet wagon there!

Did you change the headlights?? They have a black backing that I do not recall as being 'standard'!

Also, Steinmetz (Eibach) springs and Billie B8's do me fine round the escuse of roads in South Wales - it just makes it feel more 'modern' and much more controlled (that combined with some poly bushes  ;))

Yeah, I split the lights and painted the surrounds when I got it, think it helps the front a lot...

Thanks for the advice on the Springs & Shocks too  :y

Got a few more things done to the car  8)

Got my Elite Wheels refurbed and new tyres onto them, Replica Irmy Grille and fitted 20mm Spacers on the back to widen the track a little to help the handling.  Contemplating lowering it, but I'm afraid of ruining the comfort and the roads over here are brutal, so we'll see what happens...  Here are a few new pics from today after a bit of a clean:

All comments welcome...

Went for a fill up the other day and flicked through the Trip Computer to reset a few things and this popped up...

Overwhelmed with how easy it is on fuel, nearly as easy as the Cav and the difference in comfort levels cannot be measured.  Very happy  :y

By the looks of it, your car will have a 3:45 ratio diff fitted as standard.  Therefore, whichever diff you change it to will have the effect of shortening the gearing, increasing the revs, and adversely affecting your fuel economy I'm afraid.  :-\

It looks like it alright  :'(

I would try to cruise at around 65-70mph, so I must work out what the difference will be in rpm and get an idea of what the actual effect will be.

Thanks for your help  :y

Sounds like you want and LSD (limited-slip diff) then mate.  Not all MV6's were fitted with these as standard, and they are getting quite rare now.  Most of the ex-police spec cars had them, but they have different ratios depending on whetehr they were auto or manual.

This is a list of ratios fitted to retail cars, although I don't think it includes LSD ratios...

That would be what I am after alright...

Again, I thought all MV's were fitted with LSD's.  I'm not getting anything right today at all lol.  Do you have any in stock?

WANTED!!!

Hi folks, can any of you point me in the direction of a good MV6 Diff?

Thanks in advance.

What ratio do you want mate?

Sorry mate, I wasn't aware there were different ratios for them, I just presumed they were all the same.

What are the differences?  I presume one is shorter geared than the other.  I don't want to upset the gearing that much as I do a lot of motorway driving and economy is foremost in my requirements.

The main reason I want it is because I have found that since fitting the tuning box, it is prone to spinning one wheel, especially when leaving junctions, or overtaking tractors, etc.  It's somewhat daunting when one wheel spins and then out of nowhere the second kicks in and in turn I have to start correcting the slide.  From having the my old MV6, at least I knew when it was going to happen and it didn't scare the be-jesus outta me!
