What I meant was that I guess I would have to replace the whole unit, if I would like to have my remote locking to work properly again.. or?

It's a RF then..

I guess the transponder isn't something that could be replaced as it is a part of the atws ecu, sounds expensive..  :(

The LED flashes (full power) and i've tried pressing several times on the buttons while resyncing key.

The problem is the same with both keys.

Don't know wheter it is RF (whats this!? radio something?) or IR.

Omega General Help / Problems with the remote locking device..
« on: 01 November 2006, 18:03:00 »
Hi all..

Hope that someone could help me with this one as it is somewhat annoying..

My remote locking key (both of them!) dosn't appear to be working all of the sudden, I can manually lock/unlock the car but not with the remote.

First I thought it was a battery related issue but thats not it, as I have changed both of them (main and spare key). I've also tried to "reprogram" them as described in the manual (30 secs with the key in the ignition on step II and then press on either lock or unlock) but still no luck.

Is it possible that the remote device located within the car (but where!?) which sends the signal to the doorlocks fails!?

Thanks in advance..  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Oil too thin?
« on: 01 August 2006, 15:26:27 »
If you use a really thin oil in say a old aircooled volkswagen engine even though it's just been assembled with all new parts, then you will for certain hear more engine noise (tappets ect.) due to the larger tolerances used in a oldschool engine. It's the same with a worn modern engine, the tolerances are larger due to the mileage, and therefore you'll suddenly hear some rattles'n'tiktaks you perhaps hadn't noticed before with the thicker oil. 10W/40 should be what you need.

Nope.. 2.0i is 5 ltr if you change the oilfilter too (and we allways do, don't we!)

Maybe the wife just got it a tad wrong, as 5 ltrs is what a complete oilchange with oilfilter takes..  ;) (on the 2.0i 16v anyways)..

Omega General Help / Re: blowing from exhaust
« on: 26 July 2006, 20:29:52 »
It will only get worse.. (knocking when under load and so on) Mine had 3 broken bolts and the surfaces had warped, so it needed flattening too (if you can do the work yourself, as it is rather expensive to let your local Vaux dealer do the job)

Omega General Help / Re: ? about condenser and gearbox clicks..
« on: 22 July 2006, 21:17:15 »
Yup they put ultraviolet dye in it, but I can see that theres a green spot on the condenser, so I recon there was a hole in it to begin with.. (I guess that is one leak the pressure test wouldn't show)

Omega General Help / ? about condenser and gearbox clicks..
« on: 22 July 2006, 21:02:22 »
Hola dudes..

Well I've come to the conclusion that my condenser has a hole in it. (just had the aircon regassed and about 5-6 days later it's dead again)

Is there a how to on changeing a condenser? (can't find one)

---

? number two is just something I have noticed while driveing with the windows down (due to that non-working aircon.. grrr!). When shifting down from 5th gear the gearbox kinda "clicks" pretty loud but only when changeing down from 5th. Is this normal? There dosn't appear to be anything wrong, I'm just curious.

Thanks in advance..

It's the EML and it's definitely got something to do with the a/c. If I turn on auto on the a/c the EML dosn't come on, but if it's off or on ECO or anything else than auto then for sure the light comes on. Weird!

Well it idles at about 6-750 rpm with the aircon off and about 800-900 rpms with it on.. or there abouts. The aircon works fine though, and so does the car as a whole..

Omega General Help / AirCon turns EM light on and off.. why!?
« on: 14 July 2006, 14:54:06 »
Hola dudes..

When my car idles (after the motor has reached normal running temp) the EM light comes on and stays on until I either revs the engine, pulls aways or starts my aircon. Anybody with a decent guess on why it does that!? (I can actually turn the EM light on and off by starting the aircon and turning it off)

The only code stored is a 0100 and that should be the MAF (but I kind think thats a phantom code as theres is nothing wrong with the car).

Can the aircon turn the EM light on at all!?

Regards, dRjENSEN..
