General Car Chat / Re: My new ride
« on: 29 March 2012, 15:48:30 »
If I am not wrong, the Mondeo ST220 is a 5 pot engine which makes a nice warble. This one is 2.3l turbocharged making 256 BHP. I have made a lot of modification to car over the time of ownership so its pushing close to over 350 now  :D

Here is a review by Jeremy clarkson of Top gear: Mondeo ST220 vs 6 MPS vs Vectra VXR

General Car Chat / My new ride

Have been meaning to post this for a long time, but never got around to it, so apologies. I have owned 2 omegas before, very comfy cars! The first was a 2.2l petrol cdx with wood trim, and the second was an ex-police 3.0 MV6. The police one was lowered by 40mm. The MV6 was pushing over 200 bhp, but i wanted something with more power and 4wd, and after a long search, I finally found the car i was looking for. Quite a wolf in sheep's clothing, going by the brand name as well as the looks. I present to you, Mazda 6 MPS :)

Hope you like! :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Omega MV6 aircon problem
« on: 21 October 2009, 17:14:46 »
thanks for your replies guys! :) Yes, the temp is 4 deg. But it was 20 deg that day, lol, so I do not think that was the issue. The problem is that diagnosis of aircon is a pain, and most of the money goes into that, not to mention the parts later! :D One of the garages said that it might be the pressure switch, but I am giving it to one of the local guys, so lets see what they come up with :) Will keep you updated!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Omega MV6 aircon problem
« on: 17 October 2009, 09:25:04 »
I have been trying to sort out the aircon in my ex-plod mv6, but no luck yet. I am based in swindon, and I gave the car for aircon servicing to Pebley Beach, and they diagnosed a leaking air con pipe. The leaky aircon pipe was the low pressure pipe, and it was leaking near the valve at the top.
So I contacted Mason TTC in swindon, and they sent a mobile van to have a look. The guy filled the aircon with nitrogen, and then put a small screwdriver into the valve, where it was leaking. It gavei 2 short bursts of nitrogen and stopped leaking altogether. The aircon guy said that this might have happened due to some dust being caught under the valve. So he went on the remove the nitrogen and re-gas my system, and gave me a call an hour later, that it was still no go, and that the compressor clutch was not cutting in due to electrical fault. Here is the diagnosis on the repair sheet:

"A.C.CHECK/LEAKING PIPE. carried out H/P leak test with OFN. Found leaking discharge SVC port. Recitfied by resealing valve. Purged vehicle and moved vehicle to suitable power supply. Place on long vac and added UV Dye to system, tested and found comp clutch not cutting in. No power to clutch coil. Supplied temporary feed, with power probe - found comp cutting in. Reqs further investgation."

After all this, me and my colleague went to my car again, and decided to test the car comp with Economy mode. So once I switched on the ECO mode, the comp would stop and the cool air from outside was directly pulled in, and once I switched off the ECO mode, the comp would start working. So I am not sure if the Mason guy's diagnosis is correct.

I called the coolaircon.co.uk guy called Nick (Reading/Slough) and he said that if the eco mode is working, then the comp must be ok, its just that the comp is not getting enough power to let out high pressure gas. So he suggested that I show it to an auto electrician who could fix that.

So after all this story writing, the biggest question is, does anybody know any auto electrician who can help me fix the aircon problem with ripping me off  ::)
Also, any suggestions are welcome. Maybe it is still a problem with comp. Did anyone have similar experiences?
Thanks for your help in advance :) ;D

Omega General Help / Spoiler painting and fitting services
« on: 30 October 2009, 21:23:23 »
Hi,

I have been searching online for places that offer boot spoiler fitting and painting services, and I am coming across a host of car body shops, but no real reviews. Any chaps here from swindon who have tried such a thing? Even if it is any info about accident repair which was done well (or reviews), it would be appreciated, since my spoiler would need primer, paint and then fitting.
Thanks in advance,
Shreyas

Do you have the ashtray insert + retainer with the flap/lid? Is it black color? (not the wood trim.. since it is CDX i think it might be wood trim....)
