Hi,

When I drive the omega from cold, it seems to rev quite high before the auto box changes gear. After a couple of minutes it sorts itself out. Sometimes also it takes awhile to start the car.

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Water getting into engine bay through seal
« on: 13 June 2009, 09:03:03 »
Hi, Following a recent problem with my spark plug wells filling up with water when it rained, I have traced the leak I think to around the bottom of the windscreen seal on the drivers side. The spongy insulation on drivers side gets soaked.

has anyone else got this problem?

Do you think a good line of waterproof sealant around the windscreen seal would be enough to stop it?

The windscreen seal is seated really tight against the screen on the passenger side. Drivers side looks slightly lifted.

Hi again,

Car was running much better today bu still had the odd sluggish moment. I took the coil pack out again to check and there was abit of moisture still in there so i made sure it was fully dry.

I have also noticed on the coil pack that each rubber sleeve which slides over each plug is split. Could this cause rough running also?

Yes, all the plug wells were full of water. And the spongy insulation on the drivers side of engine was soaked.

I did my best to empty the wells of water using kitchen towel.

The car now runs pretty good. Was abit lumpy to begin with but after a couple of minutes it was fine. The engine light is now on though.

How easy is it to rectify the insulation/scuttle panel?

I will now be reversing my car on the sloped drive in the future lol

Car was parked downhill and it did rain last nite.

Could exhaust be a cause?

It did this last week only for a minute but cleared up. The rear silencer has a leak on it which i was going to get replaced this week.

Hi,

Just went out at lunch in my 2.2 16v omega. It was misfiring badly, especially pulling away, had no guts in it until speed was built up and the engine light came on and was flashing.

Any ideas? Feel like i am loosing the battle with this car.

I am after one for the 2.2  :y
The 4 cylinder one isn't particularly good, which is why we tend not to have them in the shop.  Bit too dark, no narration.  Unlike the V6 one which is bloody brilliant imho.

If you really want a 2.2 one, I can put some in the shop before the weekend, but please read the feedback for them ("Read Reviews" when looking at item in shop) first

I would still like to buy one. For afew quid its worth a look!

I am in the process of ordering a cambelt kit and water pump. I have found a good deal at www.vauxcentre.co.uk.

Has anyone else bought a kit from there and are they a good quality?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for all your feedback.

With regards to the cambelt, the prevous owner said that he had it done about a year ago, but yesterday he said that was wrong and it was the fan belt. He never had the cambelt done!!!!

I beleive it hasnt been changed since 40K!!!!!
