« on: 29 November 2013, 18:24:31 »
Rear spoiler off my omega sport estate. I had it removed to put on my new boot but sold car before i could fit it
Welcome to OOF
Iirc...
Ignition off, keys out
Two torx from the back to remove air bag
remove air bag wires
Push lock washer tabs down
Undo centre nut
Knees and one hand pulling on steering wheel so it's under tension
With free hand, short sharp hard tap on centre shaft
Sw should pull off, mind it doesn't smack you in the face.
Not uncommon for loose / poor connections at the back.
Remove cluster and refit it (easy job!), and may well cure the problem.
I have just finished changing the head gasket on my 2.2, it had gone on cylinder 3 between the cylinder and the coolant channel so pressurising the expansion tank.
Strip down was straight forward following the guide on here, took no more than 6hrs and I had LPG to contend with.
Got the HG set from Trechii on eBay, very good and recommended on here.
Got head skimmed, pressure tested and stem seals changed for £100 at a local specialists.
Cleaned throttle body, breather pipes, blanked EGR, , changed leaking exhaust manifold gasket, cleaned out cam followers as well.
Rebuilt engine with few issues. Had a couple of problems once finished - misfire on cylinder 3 (injector connector into LPG system had come loose. Also (just solved) the throttle body some how decided to fail.
All finished now, I would say 3 days work plus a couple of days for the head skim and cost me less than £200 including all the extra things I changed/did.
In summary if the car is otherwise good get it done, if you don't fancy it and want rid PM me you never know!
Thats the "Contacter"Dont neeed one of those. It justs makes it a bit easier.OP refers to "squib"
If you need the whole airbag unit ? I would imagine they are very expensive. On the other habd,a second hand one might not be 100% relibale if you need it. I have a second hand one if thats a route your considering.
Squib is the pyro part.
OP - what was the code, and was it "PRESENT"?
My mate used his tec 2 so dont know code but said it may be the contact in the so called squib so having a look later

Might be the O2 sensors, my 2.2 failed on emmissions just before I sold it (tested on petrol). The ecu was complaining about the O2 sensors. Any chance on getting the codes read?
Can you post up what the emission results were?
Also, is it the original cat?
Further still, any recent head gasket failures?
And yes, it is a twin cat, there is a pre cat and a main cat (although the pre cat does very little in the way of anything useful)
