Omega General Help / Re: Idle Control Valve
« on: 02 August 2009, 19:45:49 »
Had the EGR blocked off before - might have to locate the blanking plate again - I took it off when I replaced the valve the other week....

Any idea what the rotten egg smell is?

I've now replaced the Idle Control Valve (again) for a new one but it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference if any.

Its still running poorly, but I've noticed that when its warm, its emitting a "rotten eggs" kind of smell and the exhaust is popping...

Any ideas anyone?

Evening again...

I've finally managed to get a moment to read off the fault codes and now, to be honest, I'm more confused than I was before!

I got the 1-2 code as expected, then got a 5-7 and a 1-3-2 so that means - which is somewhat annoying as I've changed both the ICV and EGR for spares I had in the garage (although they could be duff too)

57   Idle Air Control Voltage Low

132   Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Feedback Incorrect Signal

I also got a 9-1-2 sequence which to be honest has confused me somewhat - it was the first code that came out after the 1-2 sequence... Any Ideas?

Got the old beastie running again - had a spare ICV in the garage (didn't even realise it was there...) so cleaned that an fitted it today, along with the "spare" EGR Valve I had in there too....

Starts fine, ticks over fine at about 600rpm, but has no power when you accelerate and seems to "chugg" and struggle to pull...

Any ideas?

I still need to do the paperclip test - would you believe I can't find a flipping paperclip or suitable piece of wire anywhere!

Thanks All

I need to do the Paperclip Test - got to locate the relevant codes and instructions again though - remember it being online somewhere a while back...

Might have to change the habit of a lifetime and Google it!

Omega General Help / Idle Control Valve
« on: 14 June 2009, 11:20:19 »
Morning all - just joined as I'm trying to get my Omega running again after 6 months or so of it just sitting there, looking like a nice ornament outside the house...

Its running really rough, I'm assuming its the Idle Control Valve as once you rev it past about 1500rpm it settles down - I'm happy with the process of cleaning the ICV, but my question is, where is the damn thing and what does it look like??!!??

Cheers in advance!

Rob

Thanks all for the Welcome!

Pity the Omega doesn't seem to have forgiven me for not driving her regularly and is sulking and not well!

Morning Ladies and Gents

I'm RobV - some of you might remember me from CavWeb and the Vauxhall Sports Car Club (I was a Mod for a while)...

I've got a modded V6 2.5 - I'll get some pics up at some stage...

Haven't really used the Omega for the last 9 months (bought a Range Rover) but want to get the Omega running properly again as I miss driving it!

I've got a one off modded Irmscher front bumper (pre facelift), Irmscher rear bumper (post facelift), Irmscher rear spoilers (both lip and wing), Irmscher twin exit exhaust (post facelift), Irmscher lowering kit, Irmscher 18" SportStar alloys with good tyres...

Only problem is, they are still attached to the car - but make me a reasonable offer and you can have the lot (with the car!)

 ;D ;D
