The cure for the radio problem was simpler than I could thought. I disconnected the battery for an hour or so and after connecting it again that freezing had disappeared.

Now I have only left to find my bravery and try to swap the bulbs :) . First try at the last weekend was a fail. I didn't now how to find the screws holding the bulb case and when I just removed the rubber casing behind the bulb case, I could touch the bulb, but it didn't fit through the hole where from I previously removed the rubber casing.

At least I managed to kinda find some info from the forum and will try to give it another try swapping the bulbs.

Today I also discovered that the automatic height regulating inside the HID-s are probably broken as well. After switching on the HID-s, I didn't see the lights going up and down.

Also, a big thank you for all the help guys :y

NCDC - I don't use sat-nav disk at all because the previous owner has probably killed the laser and no cd will play in there. I will give it a try and remove the 4-disk cartridge right a way. Can you also give me some backround info, why this problem is occuring and how can removing the cartridge or the radio itself help to solve the problem? And what about pressing the CLEAR button very often, is resetting the radio in any way harmful?

HID - Can the bulb be really broken when sometimes it works, just the it don't want to switch on quite easily? I have heard that the ballast pack can be the cause of the problems also?

A few months ago with very cold temperatures my battery went so weak that I had to take it off and recharge inside my house. My car was without battery less than 24 hours.

After putting the battery back, the problems started with my radio and display.

After ignition, some minutes pass by and all the buttons of the radio don't work. Of course the buttons on the steering wheel don't work either. Even when I switch the engine off, the radio stays on.

So the only way to get my radio to respond to me again, is to hold down the CLEAR button some seconds and then the radio unit "resets" itself. If I am lucky, it stays OK up to 5...10 minutes, but at worst case it freezes again after few seconds.

I'm not sure it is related, but my second problem is that one of the xenon lights doesn't switch on at first try, the other one is OK. Sometimes I have to try several times before both lights switch on (and I know this fast on-off is death to HID). But I have found that switching off radio, climate and hitting the revs over 2000 rpm, the problematic xenon light switches on more easily. I assume this is because the higher rpm, the higher voltage generator can produce. Also, the voltage regulator (don't know the correct term for it) can be broke.

So can you give me some advice what could be the cause of my two problems and how could I fix them? Is hitting the CLEAR button so often and resetting the radio, any way harmful? I'm also happy to answer any related questions which I can :)

I have NCDC 2013 with phone, GPS, color screen.

I accidentally found that if I press CLEAR for 6 seconds and reset the system, the sound stays on and everything works OK. Finally :)
But can I damage something when I start to reset the radio more often, like daily basis? Because there is still a problem somewhere and the resetting just repairs the problem and doesn't eliminate it. Right??

I checked all the speakers (6) and found no bad connection. Of course I couldn't check the wireing inside the car, maybe that could be one reason.

I have a bit similar problem.
When starting with hot motor or when the car has heaten up by sun, the audio goes to on-off cycle. Music plays for 4 secons, then its silence for 12 seconds and the loop starts again. The strange bit is that sometimes the audio stays on when I start the engine about 3-4 times again. Sometimes even that woun't help.
By now I have suspected that a capacitor in the amplifier is the reason. As it drains out, the audio mutes (11 sec) and when it is charged up again the audio plays (4 sec) ant then looping. But I can't explain why it sometimes stays on when I crank the engine few times.

By reading this topic, I found another possible reason for my problem. But before I start to rip my car up I would appreciate if you could point me what and how to check.
Will I open all mu speakers up and check for loose connection? How can I get to an amplifier as it sits so hidden away at rear? What and Can I measure some components, earth, etc with multimeter?

I own a Opel Omega B Caravan 2001 2,5TD 96kw, NCDC2015 with Bose stereo

I'm going to take my starter off and gonna try to clean the relay connectors and check the cables from the battery. Is it enough or should I just buy a new one? What is the price range for a new relay?

By Autodata in "Fuse box/relay plate, engine bay 1" is a "starter motor inhibitor switch relay". What's the purpose of that relay?

9
Sorry for my bad english, didn't know the word "integral".

Do I have to take the starter out or can I just change the relay? Because there's so little space in the engine compartment, I wasn't able to find the relay near the starter with just touching.

10
The starter relay is replaceable.

But where is it located?

Omega General Help / Re: Parking sensors problem
« on: 02 August 2009, 11:58:19 »
I also get a constant beep when reversing. I think that the problem is in a sensor that is a bit pushed inside the rear bumper. I tried to pull the sensor out but was unable to do that without scraping the paint.
Any advice how to get the sensor out?
