Alternator reg failed short circuit, dead easy to fix once the alternator is off.........

Its this part by the way:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12VOLT-BOSCH-INTERNAL-FAN-ALTERNATOR-REGULATOR_W0QQitemZ120036911805QQihZ002QQcategoryZ9886QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Whilst you are at it, worth changing the two bearings a well.....the bearings are standard items:

6303RS and 6203RS - on of each.

rang up vaux today about alternator parts, they said coz i got a delco alternator the parts arent replace-able and id need a  whole new one
  are they wrong?
the light went out today after i put some lube on the belt and alternator test came out ok aswell as battery test.

aaarrrgggh >:(
lent my motor to my folks due to them having car issues
they come into work today and say, "come look at your  car"
i go out expecting a smashed motor.
father starts it up and says "look at the dash" so i look and my battery light is up glowing, when he revs it the light gets brighter????
then he tells me when he was driving it all the lights were flashing.
could it be the earth wire, as ive seen a few threads earlier yesterday by chance that may suggest that, but i thought i could be the diode pack in the alternator
another technician at work says it could be the tensioner on the belt but that doesnt appear to be too loose.
anybody got any quick fire way of finding out? i used to strip alternators so that should be easy enough to do if thats it
thanks in advance love from the crow

As for the steering wheel and shrouds, if its a 3 point steering wheel ( a T shaped centre) its probable that if you turn the wheel so the open part of the T or the 'missing spoke' bit, if you follow, is at the 9 o'clock then the 3 oclock, theres a pair of screws you can remove and, if the other screws from below are out too, the shrouds are free to be taken off.

As for the 'zorst, I'm happy with a standard.  Saves the Polis giving me a tug more often than I can put up with!

thanks for confirming that about the wheel, its my uncles car, dont wanna go telling him i can do the job in ten minutes if it gonna be longer, hes enough of a kn0b as it is lol
i dont see that many police around here to be fair, so aint too worried, if i do get pulled i can change it back at work quick enough for any mot or such like

okay dokey guys, ill try the butter knive thing on the weekend
at present i got a back box with 4 inch diamiter you see all the way through, but sounds shit, guy at work says he has pipe to replace centre box or we can cut open the centre box, remove the baffles and weld it back up, im more for the pipe, at least thenthe box can go back on at some point.
i may have solved exhaust noisde any way, its well loud now due to i lowerd car 40mm a month or two ago and cained it over a bump at work earlier, i reckon (without looking) the cat is broke or similar due the noise its making. il put it on the ramp saturday afternoon and see.
i also gotta do a corsa indicator stalk saturday, ive been given the tool to remove steering wheel but work guy said no need for that if i turn the wheel round, do you guys know?

hey people, 3 days and im still loving the site.  :D

well, my heater vent on the ver far right of the dash by the drivers window is rattling like F***,
how the hell do i get it out? or do you boys know of a way to stop it rattling?
it doesnt help i got a mega big exhaust on ,but the rattle is louder right now.
also the drivers exterior mirror is rattling, i reckon its due to the exhaust aswell,  >:(

also there a little cover on the trim on the drivers seat, it keeps falling off, i ve blue tacked it, glued it and it still falls off, what the F***!

finally, has any one put a staright through on the exhaust, ie taking the baffles off the centre box and rear box so only the cat is restricting flow? does it still go ok?

is that enough questions?  :-X

 hello people
looking for a forum for omeegas due to other vaux sites being too cav based, this looks well good  ;)
ive got me a 2.0 16v omega, well under powered but does the trick
its lowered 40mm on venom motorsport springs and has a special back box on that makes it a little louder.
other than that its standard, gonna need some rims soon but bank balance aint allowing that right now so soldier on till then. :(
i have some photos of my beast but im gonna wait til its back from the body shop to get some good ones. some idiot in a vw golf plus booted my rear end so cars being repaired, but not until the other driver sorts out his sketches and rubbish like that ,too much paper work i reckon.
by the ways, not like it matters, i am a mechanic, i work for volkswagen and recently got btec national diploma level 3 so i might sound like i know a thing or two but i dont!  ;D
i hope i get on here better than the other vaux sites
     loves ya all already

:y spot on looking motor i say, if i was a little richer i would deffo be looking at buying one like that, looks mint in black
you into keeping it completely stock?

hi people, we charge all our batteries at the garage whilst they are on the vehicle, but if the battery has a green light indicator on the top, we have to use a special type of trickle charger or it damages the cells or something like that, i would say check what battery you got then decide.
