Omega General Help / pulley noise
« on: 24 June 2016, 21:43:41 »
Hi all.
Got a squeaky  pulley.
Sprayed WD40 and found out, as you look at the engine from the front, it's the big pulley top right hand corner.
Can some one please tell me if this is just a pulley for the belt or is it a part the belt is driving.
hope you can help.

Joe

Builder by trade so estate every time.
the amount of cap you can get in the back of these things is quite amazing, that's why I am on my second one.
Just put about 20 small bags of hardcore in the back this evening which should be a smooth ride in the morning.
Whith a bit of luck, if I hit a big bump it might turn my EML light off :y

Omega General Help / EML light
« on: 16 April 2016, 22:37:43 »
Hi all.
2.6 CDX
EML light has been on for the last 2 months but the car seems to be running fine, maybe a slight rough idle but you would need to concentrate to notice it.
Had a mechanic friend read the codes for me and this is what it come up with.

P1650 service light
P0325 Knock sensor 1, circuit bank 1, low input
P0170 Fuel trim malfunction bank 1
P0173 Fuel trim          "          "    2

The first one I have never seen light up even on ignition so I presume the bulb has gone so not worried about that one.
The last 3 my machanic said could be something as simple as a vacum hose come off or split which could throw up a fault with the MAF sensor which could throw up the code for the Knock sensor.
As it was chucking it down with rain we did not have time to have a look.
Will be changing the cam covers soon so while under there if the good folks on here could offer up any thoughts on what to look for or keep an eye out for then it would be much appreciated.
Oh, and when he had finished he cancelled the EML light which stayed off for a couple of days but then come back on when I seem to hit a bump. Light still on but car still seems to be running ok to me.
All coments welcome.
Many thanks,  Joe

Omega General Help / Re: Right hearter stuck on cold but left is ok
« on: 29 November 2015, 23:03:08 »
Have just done my one today with the same problem.
Took about an hour to do in a force 8 gale wind but got there in the end.
If your 6' 1" like me then you will need to take a couple of pills afterwards just to relieve the pain in the neck and shoulders, or is that old age. :(
Good luck :y

« on: 21 October 2015, 20:23:45 »
Hi all.
2001 CDX.
When the climate control is on I only get warm air on the passenger side and cold air only on the drivers side.
Both temp controls set the same and all vents blowing air out.
Hope some one can help.

Omega General Help / Bonnet release.
« on: 06 October 2012, 23:00:45 »
Hi.
Can anybody tell me how to get the bonnet open now that the lever wont open it any more.
The cable is still attached at both ends and you can see the bonnet moving when pulling the lever but seems to be jammed.
All help much appreciated.

Omega General Help / Re: 1996 2.5 V6 using coolant
« on: 26 July 2012, 23:33:29 »
Another place to look is in the 'V' of the engine where the oil cooler sits.
I think mine leaks from one of the pipes that run near the thermostate but not as much as yours though, justs needs topping up once a week with about 1/4 of a litre of anti freeze if that.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Wheel Bearing
« on: 27 April 2012, 23:50:46 »
Hi.
Not been on here for a few weeks but reading this tonight and had the same symptons last year on my 2.5 estate.
Thinking the huming noise was coming from the left hand rear bearing bought a new one ready for fitting when after trying to get more advice from a number of people the conclusion was the rear diff might be going. Dont ask me how every body come to that because i cant remember.
Anyway, went and got a second hand diff delivered more in hope than expectation and got my mechanic to fit it and wow be tide it cured the problem, the silence was bliss.
Now you have a new bearing fitted it might be the diff after all, not saying it is though :).
Hope this might help in some way.
