Omega General Help / Help Please - Oil cooler (coolant)
« on: 07 May 2011, 07:42:54 »
Hi guys, i had my oil cooler replaced (at some great expense) see older posts. Was just wondering how long it takes for all the oil to get out of the coolant system. I needed the cooler replaced as it had failed and sucked up lots of oil into the coolant system and ended up with custard in the expansion tank.
The garage have said the engine may need flushing thru a couple of times to clear it all.
I have had it done once but still have oil in the coolant.
Have checked oil levels in sump and they are fine as had oil change and new filter when cooler was done, so its not sucking up oil still.
Have spoken to a friend who is a mechanic and he said it would take a while.
Was just wanodering what you guys and gals think.
Its a 51 plated 2.6 v6 auto on 70k.
thanks guys all comments welcome...

add.... Have had the heads checked just to be safe.

Omega General Help / Head Gasket.....Help!!!!
« on: 20 February 2011, 16:32:43 »
Help please, I think my head gasket has gone, I have the 2.6 v6 auto version on a 51 plate with 70k. My expansion tank is filled up with what can only be decribed as coffee sludge, but my oil dipstick is clean and not milky like i would have thought, my oil filler pipe has mayo around the top but its always had that from condensation. I had a new water pump and cam belt fitted about 4 months ago and a new heater exchange valve thingy (starship enterprise) fitted in november. Anyone have any thoughts and roughly how much it will cost to repair.

Omega General Help / Coolant Leak.....Please Help!!!
« on: 04 November 2010, 06:22:31 »
Hi guys, please help. I had a coolant leak, so booked it into a garage to be fixed and ended up paying nearly £600 for a new water pump, tensioners and cam belt. As the garage said my water pump was leaking. I still however have a coolant leak of about 1 pint a week. I had a friend (mechanic) look at it and he seems to think its a pipe thats located on the top of the engine towards the rear under the dash and behind the the big alloy thing on top of the motor (sorry I dont know what its called). He looked with a fibre optic camera and tried tracing the leak and thats where he thinks it is. My car is a 2.6 v6 cdx on a 51 plate. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
