yeah getting the relays clicking under the dash, and im fairly confident the ignition switch is fine too. Im wondering if the battery is at fault to be honest. Before all this started, it would go flat within a week. Im wondering if the voltage in the battery gets too low, it doesn't even bother cranking the starter to preserve it. I've got it on charge over night to see if that makes any difference

its a 2.0L x20xev, its a 1997 there's no warning lights at all, non stored in the history. the car was fine till this problem started. when i turn the key to position 3 i can hear a relay in the passanger footwell clicking and nothing happens. I've checked all earth connections so thats not the problem. If anyone can think of anything else that would be great

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Strange Problem starting her
« on: 22 November 2009, 12:42:03 »
Im having a bit of difficulty with my car. About a week ago it refused to start. i had ignition lights on the dash, but the starter motor wouldn't spin. Anyway, i swapped the starter motor for a brand spanker and replaced a blown 50 amp fuse that had blown.

Now its all back together, it wont start everytime. it only starts when it feels like it. Im starting to think its a relay somewhere, but don't know where to start. If anyone can assist with any info i would be happy to hear it.

P.s i've checked all electrical connections and nothing is loose.

Cheers Paul

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: LED - Fail!
« on: 13 October 2009, 22:02:42 »
I got a bit of experience with LED's from this site. The bloke that runs the site is very helpful. He's a member on VVOC.com. I got a full dash kit for my Veccy and it was spot on. If its any help i don't know, but the LED's used behind the speedo and RPM clocks in the vec are these https://www.crazyleds.co.uk/product.php?productid=163&cat=67&page=1

Im using the same kit to do my omega over the weekend. The above LED sits in the bigger of the bulb holders, and is more than capable of lighting all it needs too. And it looks S**T HOT at night. I went for white, and was well impressed

It might be too late, but i'll let you know how i get on with it when i do it

Omega General Help / Re: Aux belt - where's the tensioner??
« on: 17 June 2010, 21:02:38 »
if you undo and remove 2 of the altenator bracket bolts, it will pivot enough on the 1 remaining bolt to get the belt on. the using a lever press the altenator back into position and redo the bolts.  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Sudden lack of rev counter and speedo.
« on: 24 April 2010, 20:44:51 »
Ive give the instument panel a press back in thinking it may have not been located properly. Unfortunately it made no difference. Also checked the alternator and all seem to be correct. Earlier today i replaced a faulty crank sensor, and thought i may have disturbed something wiring wise, once again all is well. Any other suggestions are welcome. Cheers Paul :y

Omega General Help / Sudden lack of rev counter and speedo.
« on: 24 April 2010, 19:35:01 »
just been to asda and the car was fine. just nipped out in her again and now the rev counter is flickering like mad on 0rpm. Also the spedo isn't registering any speed. Ive looked through a few old post on here but couldn't really find anything useful to fix the problem. From what i gather if i had tc and abs lights on the dash then it could be the abs ecu, but i don't. everything else is perfect. Does any body have any suggestions? new/2nd hand dash? just to add the petrol gauge and temp gauge are working as they should and the car is a 1998 3.0l mv6 manual. TIA :-?
