Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: wiper fault

is it feesable that this was caused by a short between the wipers and the washer motor? the washers were working when this fault first happened but a garage has said the washer pump was burnt out? or is the preverbial wool being pulled! :-/

thanx dave, the stalk is the cheaper of the parts that this fault could be! and do seem to be a more common fault, i did strip the switch yesterday, seemed ok and nothing broken, but didnt have a meter hand to check continuity!
have just returned from a visit to a local garage, the owner has a mv6 himself, he tried replacing the stalk, relay and even plugged in a spare motor he had, still this fault happened, was sure i would get to the bottom of this! but seems its deeper than that!

just had a chat with a dealer near me, got told that there is the wiper relay in the engine bay, or possibly the intermittent part built into the motor at a cost of nearly £300! as its a complete unit! or could be the stalk, this fault is winding me up now, may end up spending good money to find the cause! >:(

have not had chance to get onto doing anything as yet, will try and have a look, i take it that if it is still running with the stalk disconnected it likely to be a relay, and vice versa, thanks. :y

before buying my mig, i had a nissan 300zx, this had a remote starter fitted so on a frosty morning i could clear my screen without unlocking the car, or going outside, and should anyone break in it had a security device added that if the brake peddle was pressed (auto) or clutch (man) the engine would cut out if the keys were not in! this was a very handy bit of kit. :y

hi there, sorry you are having trouble with the yob culture, its the laws that are to blame, they feel that they are untouchable, all the measures you take would come to nothing, you either get in trouble yourself for an aggresive approach, or they end up laughing at you when you take the legal ones, the law should be, you are not protected by any laws if you are breaking them, that would deter a lot of yobs! :question
