if your realy up for it  put a set of carbs on.
my mate took the injectors and maf off his 2.0 red top calibra and put the engine in a nova its easier to set up carbs and goes like hell .
sadly that was 6 years ago god he misses that car
the best ones to ask are ABS(autobahnstormers)

Just a small thought I had a vectra 2.0dti same thing batt drain turned out to be the black ignition switch behind barrel was nacked.I tested this with batt from my senny which has sat 4 months it started.(senny started after 4 months)
after 3 days vectra wouldn't.

The only time you would get a hot water smell is if the matrix was leaking. does your windows steam up :question

I took mine out after i recharged the air-con this is left on as a back up if I get stuck in traffic.
it doesn't sound like a jet taking off now

Go for the ngk's from local factors
the inlet manafold has to come off easy to do should only take you about a hour
be carfull not to twist the wires to much and get some instant gasket as well incase you tare the inlet manafold gasket

I'd love to use chains but just have to stick to socks on the rear the roads are a disaster area in falkirk you can let go off the steering wheel and car happily steers round corners itself sadly it doesn't talk .
I'm scared my exhaust is going to be ripped off the ruts are solid ice
