Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Flat battery and the alarm system
« on: 06 January 2011, 09:10:08 »
My 1999 2ltr Auto CD has a really annoying problem - the sensitivity of the boot lock on the key fob means that it can be so easy to pop the boot open without realising it - the result is that not having used the car for a week, the almost new battery is totally flat.
Problem: first problem is that I can't open the drivers door; there's not enough juice to for the fob to open it and turning the key manually doesn't seem to do it either.
Second problem: assuming I get into it and can open the bonnet to jump start, how will this affect the alarm? i.e. what is going to happen when I attach the jump leads? I assume the alarm will go off at some point, perhaps the secondary alarm will go off immediately (Power sounder I think its called). Will anything need to be re-set?
Any tips / advice greatly appreciated
