Omega General Help / v6 2.5 omega crank shaft sensor
« on: 17 July 2007, 20:41:51 »
My 2000 model omega v6 2.5 manual has had an intermitant fault for some time. It starts and drives as it should without any problem apart from the fact occassionaly it won't go. Every two or three weeks it just won't start. The engine will turn over without any attempt to fire up.If I keep turning the engine eventually it will start and then will drive as normal for another couple of weeks.
I went to an auto electrician who plugged the car in to a computer and the ecu had logged a code 19 rpm sensor fault. Apparently this is the crank shaft sensor. He cleared the fault from the ecu and am now waiting for the car to break down again to see if it is the same fault. I go on holiday in three weeks and am terrified the crank shaft sensor will fail and I will be stranded with a heffty garage bill. As the sensor is £70.00 rom Vauxhalls I have been advised to buy a genuine part only as some aftermarket one's are prone to fail. I don't want to spend this money should that no be the fault and also can anyone tell me where the sensor is on the 2.5 v6. Any help would be appreciated, does this sound the right diagnosis ? :-/
