Not exactly helpfull as "The Dealers" here charge at least $1100.00 (600GPB) for EACH report  and it takes about 3 weeks for the result... so with the amount of vehicles i look at in Auction in Japan each week this would cost me over $100000.00 a week and about 500 hrs to late so the very simple question of
"does someone here know of an on-line  Vin De-coader or Site where when de-coaded will confirm or not an engine is compliant to at least Euro4 remains unanswered.

Unless I am reading this wrong your fuel consumption is now worse. Its taking 9.2lt to do 100km instead of the 6.9lt it used previously.

Ahh yea Duh on my part, meant KM per 100km!  I wish the omega trip computer would rear out the other way!

To update after a few 100km its settled down to about 8.3 (Ltr for 100!) The idle is a bit more "lumpy" or sounds / feels it but it definitely has a bit more Omph
Nothing actually scientific but interesting

Hi not being a smart ass but you need to read more than the first 4 words you googled and my actual question from the beginning. from the same page this might give a bit more information,
The Japs Code their emissions on a 2-3 didget system. ANYTHING with a 2 didget Emission code (IE: GH) cannot cannot be imported here...even though in Europe the vehicle might be Euro4 any actually comply UNLESS I prove it is IE by buying the emission cert ex Germany. the process is very hit and miss and i have been lucky ...so far

So going back to my origional question, since you guys are "over there" and im at the other end of the planet,, does someone have a contact or a site where I can send a VIN number and I can be told yes or no that it complies to Euro4?!  Cheers boys!

When you're talking the finer points of emissions compliance, a test doesn't verify compliance - only that something basic hasn't gone wrong such as a failed cat or lambda sensor. You probably need a declaration from the manufacturer, hence the OP's question, as strict compliance will have been tested only at the development stage.

..and thats sort of the issue we have here or at least i do!
Here in NZ we dont have regular Emission testing like you guys, ours is only a paperwork exercise when the vehicle is Imported and complied when its first put on the road. This is how we can remove our Cats without problem:)

Yes and No!lol  because of Japans own legislation and ways of doing things a vehicle that actually complies with EURO4 in the Europe (from 2005-08) quite often doesnt in Japan until years later, yes its a bit confusing!

I sometimes get two identical vehicles come up where one "technically" complies the other doesnt. The vehicle that does technically comply here doesnt need any further paperwork to comply it here the other needs a Emission Cert which I buy direct from Germany however I cant buy these untill the vehcile is on the Ship and paid for! If for some reason i cant get the Emission cert its scarp!

Ok, i took the plunge and reset the O2 values. The one thing I did notice that the tech2 asked for engine running and as soon as i hi conform the idle cleaned up, didnt even notice it was off!?
Initial response is that the car seems to drive.."cleaner" for want of a better word, more responsive and the fuel use off the computer SEEMS to be much better, now showing 9.2 ltr per 100km rather than 6.9. not in any way scientific!
one thing that has now shown as a code is  #73 MAF (its genuine Bosch and reasonably new)  arewe talking Newtons 3rd law or has something else now happened??  cheers

Local agents should be able to provide you with European Certificates of Conformity from the chassis number

This should include the emission category... but might depend on where the car was manufactured

If main dealers can't/won't help, then there are firms who can...

That said, I think the extra complication is that you're importing European vehicles from Japan rather than Japanese vehicles from Japan, but the way NZTAs emissions guide reads is that this makes no difference as the vehicles effectively need to meet Euro 4/Japan05/ADR79/02 or higher... so the original market requirements should be irrelevant

Hi, Thanks for your effort at input (and google) but wasnt actually my question!

Your statement "kinda" relates to European Vehicles exported from Europe to NZ however does not relate to European vehicles, (exactly the same) exported from JAPAN, these are completely different issue!

As you guys may be aware, we down here in NZ import thousands of second hand vehicles from around the world here including the UK.

I myself have imported many caravans Cars and trucks (sorry, lorries!:) from the UK and to the extent of being the first to export a Holden SS Commodore to  the UK, (yes the car that looks like an Omega!, but with a 5.0 V8)

For example: (and dont laugh!)  I import around a doz or so a year 700cc Smart cars from Japan, they dont legally comply here from Japan BUT they are actually Euro4 so when i buy one (from Japan) I order an emission cert from Germany that is then accepted by our Government and the vehicle can be used here, otherwise its scrap

So thats what i am actually after (again) with your guys knowledge can someone point me onto a source (not Googled) that i can actually confirm that a Euro4 vehicle is actually Euro4!

If it's a facelift model, yours is Euro3. According to Edition 1 2003 UK sales literature, the entire Omega range is Euro3 except the manual 2.2 petrol, and some late registered Police 3.2 manuals.

Gutting the cats will mean your car doesn't have a cat in hells chance of meeting Euro1, let alone 4

ive only been doing this for 20 years, its not quite that simple and the legislation i think you are looking at is about 5 years old

I need to find a source to confirm what Emission standard a particular vehicle is, preferably based on its VIN or more particually that it is at least EURO4

If someone can point me in the right dirrection would be much appretiated!

Thanks for that, these are for vehicles I import out of Japan mainly Mercedes Audi etc and  where i brought my last Omega from years ago. 
Funny enough you can still get them out of Japan, I recently saw a top spec waggon (Estate in UKleese) that had 6000km on it! Shame they dont comply here anymore

The Japs have different "specs" when the dealer / distributor buys vehicles so a European vehicle that is Euro4 in the UK; the exact same vehicle in Japan is (sometimes) classed as Euro3...Confused!?

Im trying to find a decent way of just entering in a VIn and confirming if the vehicle itself complies with Euro4
