It was actually both at the end as to drill the studs I was told the head gasket had to come off. The engine is a 2.0l petrol with an automatic gearbox.

Omega General Help / Lambda sensor problem or not ?
« on: 29 December 2009, 15:10:33 »
I have a vauxhall omega for nearly 5 years. Last few months the engine light came on and a tiking noise from the engine.
I left this until the MOT and it failed on emissions. I was told that the manifold leak and the studs broke. Machined and changed head gasket and the tiking noise has gone away. But the light is still on. However the engine at low and acelerated rev rate is very unstable and it sounds wrong. I am told that the lambda sensor may be the problem.
The car is X reg with 53k on the clock and I want to keep it but am concern that the problem is something else and I am keeping pouring money in the wrong places.
I have looked at previous posts and found lots of relevant topics but not sure on what to do next, if someone can help please let me know.
