Shouldn`t do - If you observe the airbag precautions before battery disconnection, disconnect battery, go and have a coffee for an hour, disconnect airbags, repair fault, refit airbags and observe any correct power up sequences, the airbag light should not even come on.

Only comes on when a fault is present when the system is live (and never ever work on it live)

Used to whip them out without disconnecting the battery - never, ever had a problem when re-installed! No lights, no Tech 2 or owt!

Airbags will not go off unless there is an impact to the car or power is directly applied to the airbag.
Hi just a quick note on Airbags, sorry if i sound anal about this.
Any electical charge can trigger an Airbag (even the static off your hair or clothes),
please handle them with care and store them safely,

Sorry for ranting  :-[
Cheers Box

ps. if you cant find anywhere suitable to put it whilst removed stick it under the car so it is in contact with the floor and is earthed

Thanks again Phil :D

Hi, thanks for the replies i have has guys.
i have now got some proper fault codes, please read and advise,

P1635 Glow Device General Error
P0400 Critical System Malfunction 2
P1590 Engine Running Signal Low Voltage

I have looked thru the Fault code list on the forum, but cant find any of these (only P0400, and i can only assume thats part of the EGR system)

Yeah sorry the the Car is a Tank ::)
I have cleaned the egr system, where do i find the intake sensors please?
I changed the alternator as i was getting a low charge voltage at the battery (11.2v)
and thought i would eliminate that as a cause (14.5v now).
i have been advised that it may be the vacuum pump on the back of the engine, but thats an expensive route to take to try find the fault, hence why i am asking for advice :-[
As to the ECU fault, i have no idea how to check it lol

Omega General Help / 2.2 Diesel tank!
« on: 20 January 2010, 18:56:28 »
Hi everyone, im really struggling with my 2002 2.2 Dti and would really like to pick some brains if possible?
Got my Omega 10 months back and all seemed fine, until i did a motorway journey and it cut into limp home mode!
Since worked out it only does this at 80mph, accelerating uphill, so i got it code read and it came up with

low engine running voltage
Crytical systems malfunction 1
crytical systems malfunction 2
engine glow system fault

Now changed Alternator, and since this the car refuses to rev! totally no responce from the pedal at all, HELP!

Please throw your ideas at me as this is really annoying me coz i dont wanna scrap such a nice car,
Cheers Box

Had the emission lit for three days.
Pedle tricked ..got 0433 ,this seems to have three possible faults.
1- emission evaporative system-purge control valve circuitshorted.
2- emission evaporative system-control valve circuit open.
3-evaporative emission control system gross leak detected.
So which of the three is true as the light is now normal again?

I looked this one up lol

Auto Data Trouble Codes Book Says:

P0433 Heated Catalytic Converter, bank 2- efficiency below Threshold...
Probable cause:

Catalytic converter, wiring, HO2S 2 (heated oxygen sensor)

Omega codes here : http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1220619694

I think you've just quoted an 0430

The OP is correct in his reading ..  :y :y :y

Unfortunately I have no idea what the cause might be ... MarkDTM might pass by soon .. he is sure to know .. :)
I only write what the book tells me :)
I stand corrected :-[
