Hi all,

I am looking for any OLD (not necessarily working) Siemens or Continental Electric fuel pump out of a 2.2 petrol (Z22YH engine ) found in VECTRA C`s or Signums.

These things fail on a regular basis, and I am going to need to replace the one in my Vectra soon  i would think, so it would be handy if anyone who still had their old one could let me know. rather than putting it in the bin.

GM part number is..........Part Number 93174538

this is what it looks like
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-SIGNUM-VECTRA-C-ZAFIRA-B-Z22YH-2006-PETROL-2-2-DIRECT-FUEL-PUMP-/111222112672?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19e55ac1a0

P.M. me if you can help, and we can sort something out.

You dont happen to have a Trailer to go with it do you..?

or would that  be making things a bit impractical ?

Do the P.O.  charge extra for Articulation. ?

Hiya,

I have trid to find the Diaphragms online but with no luck.

As the prices are seriously inflated for these pumps, I am doubting that the "Seals are available independantly.

However if anyone knows where to source the innards i would be Eternally Grateful !  :D :D

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 cutting out?
« on: 27 March 2013, 23:16:13 »
For info to finish off the post.

My Omega 2.2 Auto was cutting out, ....more like losing power  coming up to roundabouts  and generally randomly losing power.

Turns out the problem  was not with the car, it was me !!
If you drive  the Automatic, and  use Left Foot  braking ... (or even  lean your foot ever so slightly on the brake pedal) you can cause the car to lose power, as it cuts  drive power when you apply the brake, which is a design safety feature.
You are supposed to drive it with one foot only, and therefor be unable to press both accelarator and brake  at the same time.
However if you drive like i was doing, then you will be causing  the problem yourself.
I now drive the Auto with one leg nailed to the floor.
It works  ...Try It ...lol

Hope this helps someone

Omega General Help / Re: Bad running (Electrical or Mechanical)

HIYA

I had a similar problems with my 2.2

First time it was a hose that had fallen off somewhere around the  front of the throttle housing. ( wouldnt even start )
Second time it was the same hose that had  cracked and it ran like a  Donkey.

just poppin in some info for folks that end up here.

I had  HBV  failure  out of the blue, and  it was gushing out water.

I was able to  short circuit the  coolant   by removing the  whole HBV  and stopping  the coolant
going through the  heater....which stopped the leak  until i got a new valve.
I seem to remember using a 3" long copper pipe to join  2-pipes together, and a "spark plug"
to blank off the 3rd pipe....All very temporary until  the new HBV  arrived from Flea Bay.

I remember it wasnt easy working in the confined space, but   a pair of plumbers grips (long handled adjustable pliers)
makes releasing the (most )  hose clamps really easy

General Car Chat / Re: IS THERE A CATCH
« on: 07 October 2011, 16:55:30 »
hi again,

1. yes i knew about the short MOT...not a major problem.
2. Didnt know about the plate change till HPI,d the thing, as she never said.
3. did know about the Engine change.

What i,m saying is ...

2 out of the 3 main things that one would normally check ..have been changed....so

The only original thing left to identify the vehicle are the  VINs  ... on the drivers floor ... etc.

So...having THAT knowledge....would you proceed ???

( the short mot and the lady owner are incidental to the story obviously.)

General Car Chat / IS THERE A CATCH
« on: 07 October 2011, 16:04:25 »
Hi Gang,

The missus wanted a FWD  motor for the winter, and asked me to look around for a Vectra or similar.

Upshot is:  I won one on EBAY ... but have reservations about it now.  as H.P.I.  info seems to be pointing me in the opposite direction

£936 WINNING BID.
2004 (54) Vectra life 1.8L
2 owners.(2nd lady owner  for last 5 years )
96,000 MLS
ENGINE SWAPPED AT 33,000
Plate change last month (was private according to H.P.I. )
2 Months MOT. 2 months tax

Obviously  at £936.00 it isnt expensive...quite cheap really,  ..but
as the Plate has been changed, as well as the Engine, then i feel that the only referance point left is the Chassis number. not to mention all the other things that  the seller might have forgot to mention...like the plate change....

I  dont think i will go ahead with this one, (even although i think it could/probably is genuine.

beleive it or not ..(Sorry Girls ) but one of my main concerns is   the short MOT  coupled with the lady owner for the last 5 years.

How would you guys assess the risks on this one ... humour is  anticipated if not expected  !!

Omega General Help / 2.2 exhaust versus 2.0
« on: 24 June 2010, 23:38:02 »
Hi Gang.

the 2.0 Omega litre exhaust fits straight on the 2.2.
but of course it has only one middle silencer instead of a pair.

The cost of  the 2.2 assembly (from cat back. ex cat ) at SMS was £196
Whilst the SMS price for  the 2.0 litre single box version was £115.

I am told this applies to Vectra 2.2 and 2.0 as well as the diesel.

I didn,t notice  much difference with the 2.0  exhaust on..in place of the 2.2 twin box system  but anything is quieter than  a blown rear silencer.

A good saving there of £81.00  if you are skint, or just dont want ripped off. and   the single box is lighter as well.so saves fuel ...?

klickster Cheesy Wink

Be assured that it does fit straight on,  and is easier to fit than the twin box as well

Omega General Help / Re: Dronning, Humming noise
« on: 14 April 2010, 01:10:28 »
Hi Jiho,

Be careful when diagnosing this, as  sounds travel from front to back and vice versa.

I changed  a front Universal Joint on my Cavalier as the noise was coming from the front footwell.....but

that Didnt fix it !!
So decided to live with a  faulty gearbox.....wrong again !!

2 weeks later  drone from rear  suggested rear wheel bearings, so swapped both with used /nearly new bearings....and voila ..all was sorted .....sound was travelling to the front through the chassis.

On a more positive note, i have had 2 cars with droning back ends, which i eventually fixed ( 72 ford cortina +  69 Ford Falcon)
Both were rear wheel drive, and both  had worn out  hardy spicer couplings on the back of the  propshaft.

I would suggest that you check  the rear U.J.  on the propshaft, as it  runs dryer than the front one, and the bearings dry up and  dont run properly. on all rear wheel drives.
swapping  prop shaft with a good second hand one may sort it !!...and its easy to do .

I wouldn,t  suspect the diff, as  it would/could  clunk as well as drone.

difficult to diagnose without hearing  but wheel bearings  could  do the same, but check  prop shaft first, then bearings i would suggest, especially with  the V6 which supplies a lot of torque through the prop shaft (single bearing that drives the whole lot. )

let us know how you get on

Omega General Help / Re: Brake pad clips
« on: 14 April 2010, 00:34:24 »
Just finished  doing rear  discs and pads on my "NEW" 80,000 mile 2001 OMEGA 2.2 AUTO.

That was real fun !!..previous owner/s should have done  that years ago.

everything  nearly seized solid,

Pins needed drilling out, and heads flew off into  a hedge when eventually dislodged,  springs fell apart at the same time.

Thank heavens for the forum online picture show (i dont have a  HAYNES )..... as i havent had so much trouble since trying to get a set of drums off a 1966 Ford Anglia  when i was a kid.....long time ago now !!
ha ha !!

Suggest anyone needing to change rear pads ...if you dont know the car too well, check  the pins and clips  before you start.

good advice
