Omega General Help / Re: Purchasing omega
« on: 26 January 2012, 09:24:56 »
Hi,

Looks nice - hope it goes well for you.

I'm surprised non-one from this forum has not had a go at you by saying you should have done all your enquiries etc. before purchasing the car.
Because that is what happened to me last year - had many people saying I should have asked the seller all the questions I needed rather than buying it first then asking forum members if there are any common problems etc. I should look out for.

Oh well such is life.

Car looks well looked after so hope it goes well for you.

Omega General Help / 4 pipes at back of plenum
« on: 24 December 2011, 20:55:28 »
I have cleaned the plenum and TB and have reambled it all back together.
I just want to make sure I have put the 4 pipes that lead into the plenum in the correct way.
so looking at this guide:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90653.0

Pipes 1 and 4 go into the breather box/link to the V shaped pipe (larger outlet on breather box)
Does pipe 2 also go into the breather box (smaller outlet on breather box) or is it pipe 3?

Omega General Help / 87 A/C Cutoff Relay Voltage Low
« on: 12 December 2011, 09:53:12 »
I am getting the error code:
87   A/C Cutoff Relay Voltage Low

After replacing the ABS ECU the above error code keeps showing up on my code reader.
I have tried clearing the codes - but still it comes up.

I rechecked all connections, however still can not get rid of it.

Any ideas first place to look to solve the problem?

Problems been sorted now.
I think one of the contacts on the ECU plug was not connecting properly, I took the connector plug off and wiped each connector with a cotton bud, the 4 large flat connectors on the ECU and ECU Connector supply the power (and return) so I paid more attention to those.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Nope - ABS ECU hasn't been working properly for around 2 months or so, and not at all for around 3/4 weeks.
(Posted questions regarding a non working ABS ECU months ago - when the fault first occurred intermittently)

I replaced the 10A fuse (ABS - 19) and turned the ignition on.
This time it did not blow, but still no communication with the code reader and the TC,ABS lights are still on.

When you say 'wiring connector', I assume you mean the larger one that plugs in on top, not the smaller one that plugs in at the bottom of the ABS ECU?

I'll try it tomorrow morning (been at it since 11am!).

Yep! - Replaced the 10A fuse, turned the ignition on - blew the fuse straight away.

There must be a shorted wire somewhere - unsure where though.

Any ideas or common areas to look at?

Would you be able to tell me which fuse it is?
I have tried searching for ABS ECU fuse, but nothing really comes up...

Also, I do get a working ABS ECU, would I be able to communicate with it with a code reader by plugging in the smaller connector (on the bottom) and the large connector (on top) - (would I need to actually fit the ABS ECU)?

I only got the code reader after the original abs ecu started to fail.
So i never actually read the codes before.

Does anyone have a working ecu for sale on here?
What would you need from my original unit to identify it?

Omega General Help / 3.0v6 ABS ECU

My speedo stopped working and ABS and TC lights stayed on.
I decided to use a code reader to read the fault codes.
When I tried reading the ABS and TC ECU codes, it seemed as if the code reader could not communicate with it.
After reading the How2 guide on replacing the ABS ECU, I decided to replace the ABS ECU with one from exactly the same car (3.0v6, Manual - has the same Bosch part numbers).

I have replaced the ABS ECU, and still the speedo, ABS, TC doesnt work and I can not read any fault codes (Same as before).

Has anyone experienced this before?
Is there anything I can do to diagnose the problem?
Or is there any fuse that would stop the code reader from reading the codes properly?

Thank in advance.

As the CrankSensor can sometimes be an issue, can someone tell me the best way to locate it?
I have seen a pic where its located - near the dip stick tube, but what is the best way to get to it?
Under the car or under the bonnet?

The Haynes I have doesn't include the 2.2 so can not see where I am supposed to be looking.

yep - cant type - was in a rush, was P0340.

When you saying the car may need turning over a few times first though - any suggestions how to?
Will a push start down a slight hill do the trick?
