General Car Chat / Re: 2.2 dti injector seals?
« on: 23 December 2013, 14:54:34 »
If the pump has gone I would forget it unless, as Pete says, it's dirt cheap.
The injector seals are not too bad just depending which seals have gone. On the injectors there is a seal between the bridge and injector and another copper seal at the bottom of the injector.
If the bottom seal you would need to take the cam off to get the injectors out, if the top you can raise the cam enough to change the seals without removing.
This is for a 2.0 Vectra but same process.....http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mozzer/howtoinjectorseals.pdf
Hope it helps!

Spot on. I used this guide to do mine on a 2.2 Veccy.   The job went like a dream!  :y

« on: 23 December 2013, 14:51:43 »

Hi All,
Just popped in to say a Big Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you All!!!  :y

The Miggy's gone and I'm now doing up a 2.2 diesel Veccy. I believe this engine is also used in the Omega so I'll still be popping in for some good advice . . . :-*

Done the injector seals already, and cleaned the crap out of the inlet manifold. Still working on the turbo issues though.  :-\

Best Wishes for the future.  :y

Hi,
17 to the gallon my friend, that's why. No chance of saving up for a gas conversion either. Its time for economy.  :o
Oh, and 3.0 exhaust pipes are bigger than 2.5's.  . . . . ???

Omega General Help / Secondary air injection . . .
« on: 30 August 2013, 09:20:11 »

Just a quick update.
New exhaust fitted and second hand cats courtesy of tigers gonads and car is back to normal.  :y

Secondary air injection system fine now because all the exhaust is going out the back!  :y

The passenger side cat must have been completely blocked as the car still would not run properly even with the remaining exhaust system disconnected!  :o

So, just a tip, if the little hoses on the secondary air injection start blowing, then your exhaust is blocked. Bloody marvellous!  :(

Omega General Help / Re: Trusting eBay exhausts
« on: 10 August 2013, 11:00:07 »
Just a cautionary note here but my rear box blew out. I replaced it and now, a few months later, the secondary air injection system and passenger side manifold are hanging in tatters because the rest of the exhaust system is blocked, including cats. The symptoms are loss of power, increased fuel consumption and interestingly the computer readout when switched to current consumption mode on mine read 0.4 galls to the hour when idling. When everything was fine the consumption figure read 0.3.
All the clues were there but I missed them and now the car is off the road awaiting a complete exhaust inc cats and a manifold.  :'(
The moral of this tale is, if the hoses on the secondary air injection system (front of the engine near the a/c compressor, on the 2.5 v6) start blowing for no apparent reason, then get a new exhaust immediately, cos its blocked!  :-\

Oh okay, cheers. The problem is a blocked exhaust to the point where damage has been done to the valve in the manifold, so that'll have to be changed.
I'm ok with the sai system, it was just in the wrong place when the exhaust kicked off.  :(
I would never have thought how much damage a blocked exhaust could do . . .until now. :(

There isn't a valve in the manifold, though. :-\

I thought there was a valve to let fresh air in?   If there isn't, then my exhaust is back to front.  ???

Breaking down anytime is a bad time . . .
