Omega General Help / Re: Over-sensitive Alarm
« on: 21 April 2010, 08:24:12 »
Thanks to those who suggested I look at the bonnet switch, seems it was lower down than it should be, bracket being quite bendy, so I bent it upwards. Sorted! (As a postcript, I notice that the alarm no longer goes off when I lock/unlock the doors manually, as it used to do. Coincidence? Opening the bonnet after a manual lock/unlock trips the alarm, presume this is correct?)

Omega General Help / Over-sensitive Alarm

Hello all. I'm using my late pa-in-law's Omega. Previous discussion topics were:
- ticking noise from engine (cause: exhaust manifold gasket, replaced, fine now)
- clunk from the front-end/suspension (extensively checked, wishbones, dampers, springs all okay, still clunking, would like to resolve, something loose in engine bay?).

New problem: alarm goes off without good reason. May be due to heat from sun, as it seemed to start happening after the weather improved.

Thanks to all respondents. I'm 99% certain the noise is from the front of the car, are there any "wishbones" there?

Omega General Help / Clonking noise

My late dad-in-law's 1998 Omega 2.0 auto saloon emits a very loud clonk when driven over any vicious speed bump or pothole, but is otherwise well-behaved. Garage inspection has not revealed any worn bushes. Any ideas?
