Omega General Help / Re: Struggling to breath
« on: 28 January 2014, 20:03:24 »
Considering the weather recently I think an examination of the plug wells could be in order.

On another point altogether, I have just checked my V5C log book/Registration Certificate and for D3. Model it says OMEGA GLS V6.
Does this mean that the DVLC thinks I have a V6 engine and not an inline 4? It had cylinder capacity as 2198cc and CO2 as 236 G/KM. Does that sound right? Have I been paying too much road tax/insurance for the last few years?

is it the lambda sensor
Yep

Thank you. Will see about getting it replaced. Any recommendations where to buy online?

Will also check the plugs as it occurred to me that if it was a "common" item (MAF, fuel pump, etc) causing the misfires then all cylinders would misfire not just two. This suggests to me coil pack or plugs. Coil pack I would think would give me a MIL light. Both plugs and coil pack were replaced couple of years ago - 10,000-15,000 miles at most. Will have a look tomorrow.

The 1555 is the fault I initially addressed by stripping the throttle body and cleaning it (especially the tiny breather hole that was blocked).

The others suggest it is O2 sensor 1 which is the root cause which has the secondary effect of causing the misfires on cylinders 2+3 (0302 and 0303).

Next task is to work out which is the o2 Sensor1 - is it the lambda sensor indicated in the 5th picture at http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90645.0?

Peddle trick worked well. Didn't know you could do that.

Codes generated were:

0130
1555
0170
0302
0303

FYI: I have had a new mid section of exhaust fitted recently for the MOT which it passed on 21st January

Omega General Help / Struggling to breath

I have had an intermittent MIL light showing for a while and (following advice from this forum) got hold of a code reader, diagnosed my P1555 code and cleaned the throttle body. All good so far - no MIL for days!

However my (2001 2.2 manual petrol) Omega seems to be struggling to breath correctly. On cold she is a bit lumpy but better when warmed up. I have an occasional misfire and there are times during normal driving when it feels like there is not enough petrol getting through but if I floor the pedal she takes off like a scalded cat.

My D900 EODB/ODBII code reader does not register any error codes but if I have it recording live data as I drive the FUEL SYS1 reads OL FAULT. I found a reference to this on another forum (Chrysler I think) where the problem was solved by replacing the O2 sensor.

Do I have the same O2 sensor problem on my Omega? If so, which sensor is it and where is it located?

I am not a very mechanical person but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. The guides on this forum are very useful, especially the ones with plenty of pictures and written with the idiot in mind.

p.s. the engine is Y22XE not Z16XE :)

You are probably right, but the Vauxhall Car Pass in my manual/wallet thingy says Z16XE. Maybe I ought to check the rest of the info like the VIN number ...

Maybe that's why I seem to be 2 cylinders short!

I'd also contact Vauxhall and ask for a proper engine ;D ;D
I have no problems with the engine. It runs smooth, starts first time every time and gets me where I want to go. What more could I want?

Omega Estate; 2.2 manual; 51 Registration/2001; Z16XE engine.

I have a recent problem emerge with my central locking. I can press the button on the key fob and the doors will lock (indicators flash etc) with no problem, but when I try to unlock the door with the key fob the lock unlocks (lights flash, button pops up) and then immediately locks itself again. >:(

I have to use the key in the lock to unlock the door, but on a couple of occasions I have got in the car and the doors have locked by themselves when I shut the door.

I make a point of not leaving the keys in the car unattended in case I lock myself out, but it is an irritating problem.

I'm guessing that this is an electrical fault, maybe something damp with all the rain we've had lately? Any hints or suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Robin

What a coincidence ... I have the identical keyboard to the one in the picture and my locking nut key looks just like yours too!

Newbie Welcome Area / Just saying "Hi".
« on: 14 March 2010, 09:10:39 »
Hi all,

After quite a few years driving a Cavalier I have just "upgraded" to an Omega 2.2 petrol (2001 reg).

My Cavalier was one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned and gave me 5 years of 99.9% trouble free motoring, but it struggled through the last MOT with a fair bit of welding and is now destined for the scrap yard.

I am quite impressed with the Omega. I have been told it is a "bulletproof" car and though it has lots of "gadgets and toys" I just want something that starts first time, every time and is comfortable.

Hopefully I won't be spending too much time on the forum fault finding ...

Nice to be onboard.

Robin
