when you do your service use vauxhall oil as it will  minimise the mayo.

OK, will do :)

If you get a "Trade Club" membership .. £20 from autobahnstormers .. you will be able to save a small fortune on oil ... 20 ltrs for around £35 instead of over £100 !!!!

Failing that .. stick your location details in your profile .. there might be someone near you with a trade club who can assist ..  :)

Downloaded the info pack from Autobahn and will look into. New to forums!

Hi, thanks for the replies to my question. Yes, the oil does like Mayo and daily journies are usually quite short so could explain the problem in addition to the recent bad weather.

I'll presume that the HF is OK and get the pipe cleaned, etc. A service is needed also when I get my hand in my pocket:) Cheers!

Omega General Help / Thick Oil Residue underneath oil cap
« on: 22 March 2010, 16:42:52 »
Hi, I recently topped up the oil in my 2.6 V6 Omega and noticed a Thick Oil residue unerneath the cap and in the walls of the pipe that it connects to. Is this something to be concerned about? I have looked on the forum with mentionings of a Head Gasket replacement. However, from one link it does say that failures of HG's are not common with the V6 model. Any ideas of the next steps that I should take? Coolant levels do look fine also. Any response is greatly appreciated.
