Thanks for the responses, not checked the coil packs as yet, although will be the next port of call, coilpacks and plug leads. When the code reader is attached it shows active/inactive on the crank sensor but displays the rpm to be the same as the cars rev counter. so code 31 would have occurred because the code reader was setup with the engine off that explains that error and with the new crank sensor we dont get the code 19 now, its just the active inactive message displayed on the code reader thats worrying me otherwise i would plump for failing ignition.
The active/inactive showed with the original sensor which was a genuine part so we may be barking up the wrong tree altogether. Not looking forward to doing the coilpacks........looks a right pain lol

Omega General Help / error codes

Hello all, noobie here. Site looks good and full of knowledgable people,so heres my problem.
Ive looked at the various posts about the crankshaft sensor and come to the conclusion mines kaput but i get different results. My car started firing on something less than the 6 it should be firing on, it hasn't cut out totally(yet) no management light warning, error code 19. Swapped the crank sensor (didn't use genuine vx got mine from a autospares shop not e-bay) same running symtems but now get error 31 which my mechanic tells me is still linked to the crank sensor. So from reading previous posts gonna buy a genuine vx sensor and see how we go from there, i'll let  you know Thing is if people know the non genuine parts dont work why are they still selling them, my mechanic told me they dont always work but i thought it was to save face again if he knew why let me spend £52 for nothing. Hope i can return it as faulty.
