Omega General Help / Re: engine dilemma

well after all that got sorted, took it for MOT yesterdeay and.... FAIL, wasnt too displeased about it

1. side lamp - inoperative - nearside front
2. ABS warning light/operation defective
3. brake pipes not sufficently clean - nearside, rear, replace if pitted.

so i drove straight to the mechanic and on the way my damm exhaust emmisions light thing came on while driving :-[ he's gonna hook it up check codes on monday.

it get's better, he took it a spin to test the ABS guess what no ABS the ABS dash light doesnt light up either - probably removed >:( any ideas what previous owner was hiding??

are there any checks i can do before it goes to the mechanic??

also and i know this is a long shot. i noticed the loom that run along the side of the engine has a nipped wire how would i find out what the wire belongs too???

anyway if its really bad news there will be a 2003 2.2 for sale ;)

thats a new one on me.

thanks for the link gooseman, did you manage to find one in the end?

pity you're not closer, we could have balls'd our cars up shared the cost of buying one together  :-X

Yep, bought the cheaper Sealey version (VSE130) from a local agent up here, cost £102 (inc vat) and I was happy with that as wanted a quality kit not a cheap unknown make ebay job.

Don't bother going to the sealey site as from them it'll cost a lot more  ::)

i was quoted £78 + vat from my local parts factor guy, he always does a good deal, thats for a sealey kit.

trouble is, i didn't want to spend that money that i will probably only use once every 3-4 years, as i don't do a great mileage these days, probably 5-6000 a year.

Omega General Help / Re: Info on V8 fitting....
« on: 07 May 2010, 10:17:08 »
i've never done a V8 into an Omega, but i'm sure there would be ways to skirt round the steering box, i would have thought it was the drivers side headers(exhaust manifolds) that would foul the box, although i've never looked tbh as, now, this will get me shot lol, i don't find the omega a worthwhile project, but only by it being 'too modern' for my appeal.

now, give me a nice opel monza and we'll talk lol, but it would have to be something a little bigger than a 350 chevy, something like a 454 big block would be better  :)

Omega General Help / Re: Where best to get new parts?
« on: 16 May 2010, 19:58:00 »
sorry, i should have worded it better.

the parts i require at this present moment in time are cam cover seals.

also, on the cam covers, are they just standard 'o' rings around the torx screw holes? or are they vauxhall only jobs ie non standard size.

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi Peeps
« on: 25 April 2010, 12:58:27 »
Hello all,

just saying hello as i've only gone and bought another Omega on an 02 plate, it's a 2.6 CDX jobbie.

i've had a couple of the 2.5 td Estates before now, one a rare Elite on a 94 'M' plate. but the body fell apart from tinworm and neglect.

I'm hoping to be doing some jobs on the CDX soon, namely the pressurising of the header tank and the exhaust blowing and some minor bits and pieces.

look forward to some banter with you guys(and girls if they are any here).

I am ready to start selling body panels from this car now.  I aim to dispose of this car in the next couple of weeks.

Doors, £25 each, except OSR, £15 as this has rust in bottom corner.  All with loom/glass/electric winders/CDL motors etc.

Bootlid with Elite spoiler, £75

Bonnet, £25

All collection only, for obvious reasons...

Do you still have the bonnet?

what about n/s/f wing?

i am in need of a front bumper too, it's a Facelift CDX on an 02 plate

In short, about 690 Euro between the two engine sizes. (2.2 and 3.2)

860 Euro for the 2.2.

1556 Euro for the 3.2.

omg, i moaned yesterday when i had to fork out £143 for 6mths road tax on my 2.6cdx 2002 plate. what with insurance going up, fuel costs through the roof and now road tax heading that way, but my wages have been cut, how the hell are you supposed to live these days. i don't drink or smoke so only enjoyment i get is my car/s and nbow they're robbing me of that too!!!   :(

i'm just sat trying to figure why they're doing a 2.2 four pot, surely if they're going to all this trouble it has to be a V6. or is that just me!!!
