Omega General Help / Re: Engine breather bridge - function?
« on: 20 May 2010, 22:20:30 »
Kevin -
I'd assumed that the plenum below the bridge is one chamber, directly supplying all six intakes, which receives air only from the first stage of the multiram until the second stage opens. In that case the division wouldn't be doing much. But if the plenum is actually two independent chambers, each feeding all intakes, then bridge sealing would matter! And as mentioned, the main circular seal is vital to keep out unmetered air.
I should have taken the chamber off and looked rather than asking daft questions. Which I'll have to do now anyway to put in a new breather box... if I can find one  :-[

Thanks.

Interesting! Though it seems odd that the makers would go to the trouble of providing for (and making) the fancy bridge seal if it doesn't do something useful. But who knows?

Omega General Help / Engine breather bridge - function?
« on: 20 May 2010, 19:09:42 »
Hi all!
Here's a question about the small black breather box that sits on top of a V6 plenum (the one with four inlet pipes, two big and two small). On its underside there are four outlets in a bridge, helpfully pictured by RonaldMcBurger at http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152598350.

How important is the 3D O-ring seal which runs down the middle of the bridge, dividing it laterally? And what would be the consequence of it not sealing?

I have to confess to chopping a (small) corner off the bridge to get the breather box back in its hole. Act in haste, repent at leisure...

Thanks in advance

Ah - am I too late for the driver's door central locking solenoid? If not I'm in need of one, please!

I can recommend OmegaSpares. Very helpful. Service fast with next day delivery of solenoid. Price on the high side but bearable given the firm's speed and efficiency...

Thanks for the suggestion, Miggy! I've had a look on the site but that solenoid isn't listed. I'll ring them tomorrow to see what the options are...

Cheers

Hi all -

Apologies in advance if this posting is in the wrong place! I'm looking for a used, working central locking solenoid (aka motor) for the driver's door of a 2000 (new shape) Omega saloon. Main dealer prices are a bit steep for a car of this age, so any guidance towards a source for the part will be most welcome!

Thanks
