for the brakeligt check: ignition on, no foot on brake and it will pop up.
for the oil light: drop the oil sump and check the oil pump filter. its probably stuffed of goo, or in the worst case replace the oil pump

Thanks for the tip. Will check. Hopefully it's not the pump!

Break light warning comes on whilst driving and when I check to see whether it is actually working, it is working fine.

Hi all,

Having a similar issue on a V6 2.5l GLS, where the oil level warning comes on and goes off after while.

This only happens once oil temp has reached normal operating temperature. When I check the oil level manually it is OK.

In fact, when it first happened on a longer motorway journey, I topped up the oil and the level is now pretty much at max. No, I didn't just put all of the bottle in ;)

The brake light check warning comes on some times as well but not as regularly.

I had a major service only a few hundred miles ago (may be 400 miles?), where the oil filters, housing and head casket were changed.

Any advice you can throw my way is much appreciated :D

I've heard tell if you lock the other doors then reach in thru the rear passenger door and press the button down on the drivers door, then the alarm is not set. From what I remember with mine the powersounder is set at the same time as the main alarm. May get you out of trouble with the neighbours till you can sort it.
VC ;)

Can somebody confirm this is working please?

I've got a 2001 2.6 v6 estate and simply locked the doors (all of them) by reaching 'round from the rear passenger door on the drivers side. The alarm LED on the center console does not flash, so I hence the alarm is not active?

Will have VX specialist to look at it in detail on Tuesday, but till then I need to make sure I can lock the car and get a good nights sleep :D

Thanks, Axel.

Hello OOF community and thanks for your help in providing such a wealth of useful information!

I've just bought a 2.6 V6 CDX estate and am beginning to restore all the little bits and bobs that have been broken or lost over the years. Major service has just been done and there are a few things that need doing.

Oh and that alarm / power sounder needs a good seeing-to!

A big thank-you from Woking,
Axel.
