Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Starting troubles
« on: 28 May 2011, 12:15:06 »
It's a new key from the dealer so no dropping. Something is draining the battery. I assumed it was the alarm so I don't use it no more. But shouldn't it still fire once it's connected to another car?

have you dropped the key? also could it be something drained the battery completely, causing it to attempt but not fully fire up. TBH sounds like immobiliser playing!!

Hey guys, me again.

Due to problems, my car battery has gone flat for a week. I connected upto a mates car for a jump start, but can't get the car to start. I put the key in and as I try to start, it chirps and turns over but does not fire. I have a new key as well from a dealer if that makes a difference. They had the code so I assume that there is no probe with that

whats a cid, and if the face is fine, what you want for it

I've got a 2013 that the flap is missing and the cd cartridge is stuck but I think the facia is fine and I have the matching GID so it might be possible to make one good one from the two ;)

so thats it, i f**ked it..... yip all the plastic bits are broken. and there is no power to the face because i snapped the electrical connecter as  well. how the hell do i fix this. on the plus side, i got to see why my cdc flap wont stay close and i know i can fix the broken item in work

6
it used to work, had light and i could press buttons, but now its dead, cant eject cds or use computer unless use the wheel buttons

7
since i have the car the ashtray catches on the botom of the radio, since the lower right hand corner was loose, i decided to fix it. i undid all the grub screws and pulled it out, the bottom pinged out out a bit but the top would not. so i thought a bit about it and decided it needed more force. sigh.

it made a noise and hinged out quite far but still the top did not come away. i decided to give, up. i pushed it back in but it appers the bottom grub screws dont grab anything and now the radio has no power. i can operate everything from the wheel but not the unit, can this be fixed.

also my cd flap thing wont stay up, its not that much of a pain but it keeps flashing up on the trip computer about it and that annoys the crud out of me

please somebody help

Hmmmmm, I threw that away as I give the dealer my owners manual to them which had a card inside with the code on it

You need the little chip from your OLD key, it's coded to the Engine Control Unit in your car, thats why your Engine Management Light is flashing...

If the immobilizer is stopping your car from starting then the e.m.l. should flash.

Nope still there. It's a brand new key from Belgium

Have you misplaced the little chip from inside your key housing?

Omega General Help / Alarm reset.........?
« on: 28 May 2011, 11:06:08 »
Hey guys. After snapping my key I had to wait for a replacement from the dealer. During this wait my battery went totally flat. Now, when I try to jump start it, it just keeps on turning over but never firing. And, as I turn the key, the alarm makes a little chirp noise. Is the alarm stopping me from starting????

Omega General Help / stupid central locking
« on: 30 April 2011, 22:25:22 »
hey omega bofs. i have a very perplexing problem that even has a garage stumped and the cost of chasing it is starting to bite

have any of you come accross a fault like this

when i park my car and try to lock it it takes 6 attempts. everytime come wind, rain or shine i lock it with the fob and it unlocks all the way untill the 6th atempt finally locks it. i cant put that across anymore normal. everytime, 6, never 5 or 7 just 6.

but here is the thing. once i get it to lock, i can use the fob to unlock the car and then lock it again fine 1st time everytime. UNTIL....... if i put the keys in the ignition and turn it on (dont have to fire the engine, just turn the key and then remove it, it now takes 6 attempts to lock it again.

if i lock it with the key or from inside, only the door i am locking will lock. none of the others move.

the garage has tacken both fronts and the tailgate locks apart and stripped them. still has the problem. could this be a wierd ecu fault???????

I need OOF's best brains on this as mine are close to exploding :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

its an auto, so even though its on top of a hill for a good bump start, i just cant do it

Quote
It`s possible that it`s either the starter motor or solenoid, you`d be able to tell if it was the battery just by trying the lights.
Have you tried bump starting it down a hill or with the help of some kind strangers?
Might be worth a try just to get you going.

Told you so Gav  ;) ;) ;) ;) :y

We have a long standing 'debate'  about auto's being the gearbox of choice.  ;) ;) ;)

i belive you are right. as i spend my time arguing with my car about how it should work up and down germany and belgium, i feel the auto is a godsend to make driving nice
