General Car Chat / Re: Hmmmm, Not sure what to do?
« on: 08 May 2012, 21:01:19 »
yer the problem is after a year or more im ready for changing cars although it a great car to drive! same with my 306, i was ready for changing after a year but kept it for 3 because i used it for work, my sister has it now and its still one of the best handling fwd cars ive driven, and puts a huge smile on your face chucking it around, but i changed it for the omega cos i got bored with it, as for the wife well, she hates every car ive driven till i bought it!  :P

plus checked insurance on the vectra and a 3.2 is cheaper than a 2.5 omega and its only group 14
and better on fuel

as for ride comfort and quietness, yes i agree its tough to beat but im 28, so its not top of my list of what i want in a car  ;)

General Car Chat / Hmmmm, Not sure what to do?
« on: 07 May 2012, 07:42:39 »
ive been wondering about selling the car or a few months now as i've had it 2 years and now sort of fancy a change.
I was looking at a few Alfa Romeo 156 as they are brill to drive, even the 1.8 has plenty of poke! Plus they are cheap because of Alfa's reliability reputation which is not an issue now from what ive read and owners ive spoke to.
But this weekend i've had use of a 03 plate Vectra 3.2 elite! Very nice car!!!! not as well built as the Omega and handles different obviously but still...  :P
Then again the old Omega has nothing wrong with it other than a bit of corrosion on the back doors and the wife loves the seats, whereas the vectra and 156 leather seats are a little stiff for her. ARGH i dont know!!!!  :(

my mate suggested the cig lighter as he found someone had a similar problem caused by a newly installed cb radio which was plugged there!

Solved  ;D

Turned out to be the fuse for the heated seats!!!!!!  :o

was on my way to the supermarket today and tried to put the rear blind up but it didnt work, so then tried the heated seats and rear heated window, but nothing worked other than hazzard lights and traction control! So got to supermarket and swapped the 30amp seat motor fuse for the heated seat fuse and suddenly everything worked and the steering was light! it blew again on the way home so i bought a few 30amp fuses, and so far jobs a good'n  :y

Omega General Help / multi-ram plenum switchover valve help please
« on: 09 September 2011, 15:39:00 »
i've been studying up on the multi-ram system to see if it was worth removing in place of a direct air system, but it looks like i would actually loose power and torque if i did, but while running the engine to see how it all works i noticed that the plenum switchover valve isnt working at all!!!

My understanding is that is should be open on tickover and closed on throttle up to around 4000rpm when it opens again.

From what i can see all the vacuum pipes are connected and ive traced them around the engine bay, i do know that the plenum has been off the car before i got it but ive no idea if the vacuum pipes are correct.

1 more thing that may be connected is that i always get a punch of power when accelerating hard at about 4000rpm so i would have thought this might be a effect of the valve stuck open

« on: 22 September 2010, 07:41:46 »
would it be easy to disconnect the tuning box? that's where i would start as it's a aftermarket part related to performance. disconnect it to see if it makes a difference! i nearly got a tuning box on my 306 hdi but after reading up on the 306 fourm's found chipping is the way to go, as i understand all a tuning box does is fool the ecu into overfueling the car by changing the air mass meter readings, not ideal really! :-/
