Hi,

Probably a relevant question with the weather.

Omega B V6. The air conditioning has stopped working, the fan is on when button pressed to LO but can't hear the air con kicking in. I would obviously say replace the air con but the cars ext temp sensor reads around -13oC and car is smells like it running hot with engine temp getting upto 95o.
Could it be a warter/coolant system blockage affecting everything or a electrical fault with temp sensor.
I've not checked any fault codes as no engine warning light.
Any advice where to first look please
TY

Hello,
Just a quick question.
I have searched on the site for dealing with a "NO DISC" error and cannot find any info.
I am certain there is some somewhere as this site has never let me down even with the complicated stuff. Is there anyone that can stick a link for me to the correct advice.
Rather than waisting your time answering a question thats been asked a thousand time

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Car Key Problems
« on: 04 October 2010, 15:49:05 »
HI all again lol,
Some advice please.
Simply my 2.5 V6, 99 Omega (old style) remote locking key fob has given up.
It has always been troublesome and been having to pack the inside with bit of card but now I am down to using the key in the door letting the alarm go off and starting the car quickly, which shuts it up. I would add I think the immobiliser is not working but that is not a real problem.
Can anyone advise where to get a new 2 button keyfob and a electronics engineer who can reprogram the key?
TO ADD UGH! I do not have the little card that is suppose to come with the car that has the chip/imobilizer code.
Thankyou
Marc

Omega General Help / Error 19 on paper clip test
« on: 07 June 2011, 12:59:43 »
Hi,

My Omega over the weekend was being a nightmare trying to start and then it will turn over but won't start at all.

Did the paper clip test and got code 19. Crankshaft sensor.

I replaced the sensor with correct Vx own part but still the car will not start and still getting an error 19.

Any advice please would be great.

Thanks. Oh car is a T 99 Omega B V6 2.5.

Omega General Help / Re: Head Gasket Gunge/Gloop
« on: 11 November 2010, 15:15:40 »
Thankyou will look up oil cooler on OOF and cost etc.

Also any advice on how to get the gunge out of the water system. It seems too thick to be able to just pop open the small radiator drain and let it come out.

Omega General Help / Head Gasket Gunge/Gloop
« on: 11 November 2010, 15:02:17 »
HI,

I have a old T 99 plate Omega 2.5 V.

It looks like the head gasket has gone or a crack in the head as I checked last night and the water reservoir tank had turned into a coffee coloured gloop!

Also the car has  smoke coming from the oil cap but the dip stick has no discolouration.

I know it basically maybe the end of the car unless I can find somewhere cheap to fix it.

The question i would like to ask is, How do i get the gunge/gloop out of the water system? As it is as thick as grease!

Any advice on how to flush this stuff out would be great.

Thanks,

Marc.

Omega General Help / Omega 2.5 Auto Gearbox Slipping.
« on: 28 August 2010, 19:25:12 »
Hi Again All,
I have a T,99, 2.5 V6 Omega (Auto)
Dropping friends of this morning and then driving home the gears started slipping. It didn't pull away straight off and engaged one of the higher gears at 4000rpm then a mixture of slipping up and down the gears. Even putting into the preselected gears R,1,2,3 it jumped about and jumped into Neutral quite often.
I also noticed some leaking oil near the car purely because it was raining.
Have something come off or broken the underneath of the gearbox and the gearbox fluid has gone or is it something simple.
Oh getting NO engine management light or any fault codes with the paperclip test.
Many Thanks,
Roundabout Marc

Check for spark at plug and fuel through injectors, if neither, crank sensor

TY Rob,
I have been advised Crank sensor previously. Would that also be the cause of car moving freely in a gear, that the crankshaft is not engaged into the gears?
If so thankyou for the much needed advice, i won't have to take a mortgage out to fix my Omega lol.
Regards,
Marc.
Also a huge thanks to all the Omega Techies out there for so much help and info!

hi,
Have done the paperclip test and no errror codes. Just code (12) start and end of test.
Yes the car turns over when in Park or Neutral. Though does not start or even a splutter. To add, in Reverse, Drive, 1, 2, 3 there is no ignition as expected.
So i am pretty stumped???
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Omega General Help / UPDATE to won't start.
« on: 15 July 2010, 18:35:51 »
Hi,
With ref to A previous post

Simply  questioning that the car wouldn't start when hot and getting no fault code. A lot of you experts have said the crankshaft sensor, which doesn't sound too painful.

An update and advice please before sending off to garage.
My Omega T 99 V6 (AUTO) will not start their is plenty of battery life but the engine does not start now either hot or cold.

To add to the problem which I'm not sure how serious i need to worry is that the gears do not engage when pushed into my drive. Whether car is in Park, it still can be pushed as if in neutral, and the same with drive, reverse etc that the wheels move freely. (Still no engine fault code given)

Any advice please would be very gratefully received, as sounds like i need a mortgage to get this one fixed.

Update :

Took the car for a small drive of a mile and again got hot quickly and stalled. Left it for 45 mins and started drove up the hill towards my house and then completely cut out again. I tried the paperclip test on pins 4 and 6 and all i got was code "12" and "31" or when i had tried to turn the engine over just a code "12" but not running.

Had the breakdown people to take car home as couldn't even get it to fire! Even cold (although i have not gone to try this morning!)

He said it was possibly the engine coils as they looked a little rough after the rescent weather or the crankshaft sensor.

Unfortunatly it looks like a trip to a garage as i doubt the car will get very far on its own steam! :'(

Sorry the reason I did it with engine running as got the message 31.
Yes ran the paper clip test with engine off, with both a cold and hot enigne.
I got the code 12 followed by code 31 (i believe on the V6 is to say engine not running). Followed again by code 12 etc
I hope this helps,
Marc

Thank you for replies,

O.K.

Have gone to car and done the paper clip test.

I am getting no error, it just repeats the 12 (start/end) of test.

I did this both with the engine cold and after running it for 30 mins but not taken it off the drive for fear of stalling.

I hope this info help.

Many Thanks

Marc.

Thanks TheBoy will update location/profile and for info; I'm in Milton Keynes.

Omega General Help / Won't Start when hot!
« on: 12 July 2010, 10:29:16 »
Hi,

I have an Omega 2.5 V6 auto 99 plate.

Please any advice. My Omega yesterday would not start, and ended up calling the breakdown for a tow home.

The car normally runs smooth purrs like a kitten even with very high mileage, but rescently the car would not start straight awaywhen it had  been run for a short period. It would turn over but not even try to catch. Leave it for 10 mins and started without a thought!

Yesterday it was very hot outside but went to the car in the afternoon and took 20 mins to start drove it 10 miles had a cuppa went back to the car and the car would not start for love nor money. I got it to attempt to start it and chugged spluttered but quickly died.
Even leaving it to cool for over an hour, it would not even try to start.

Tested the spark and it was excellent as is the battery.

The road side mechanic basically sprayed plus starter spray down the air filter which started the car in seconds, left it to run for 10 minutes but pulled off and stalled and it died and that was it! Tow home.

With the mechanic saying it could be the cold start injector or the fuel pump i was pretty set for a very expensive garage bill.

I went out to the car this morning and bang starts on first contact!

Reading Omega Owners forums it was saying coolant sensor, crankshaft sensor etc.

The only odd thing with the car is the external temperature sensor always reads about 6 to 8 oC lower than the actual real temperature outside for example yesterday it got to about 28oC outside yesterday and the dash read 19oC. I have replaced the sensor, but the problem did not go. I paid it no attention but I have added this bit of info if it helps.

Please any advice on running a diagnostic or where to look for the fault would be great.

Unfortunatly my tech knowledge with vehicles stop with old cars and buses and the days of Magnetos and starting by hand with the engine set to retarded. but quite happy to get dirty.
