Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Has my alternator died?
« on: 18 November 2010, 14:52:11 »
At 2k revs I meter about 13.25.

With headlights on about 13.02.

Headlights, Heater, indicators, fog lights etc still about 13.02

Without engine running about 12.75

Is my alternator kicking out enough?

ok I tried a new relay and no buzzing but dead so reading about the fuse suggestion I set about removing and testing every single fuse once again  (it was one of the first things I tried).

I found a 20 amp dead fuse and low and behold everything seems back to normal. I must have missed the only dodgy fuse the 1st time round doh! I haven't tried the stereo yet as I'm at work but fingers crossed all will be ok.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions in this thread as I was close to giving up..

To say I'm happy is an understatement as I was thinking id wrecked the ecu.

Now to crack on with the rest of the problems my omega has, you lot will be sick of me soon :)

Thanks again...

Banbury, oxfordshire.
You don't think it might be the relay then?

5
Had the standard 3 block connector which the stereo plugs into. No cut and badge wires. Waiting on a emergency light relay as that's buzzing when the emergency lights are on and they send lots crazy

6
ive also just discovered as soon as I put the internal light on the stereo dies/mig blanks

7
You could be right as the new head unit keeps cutting out and when it does the MIG goes blank.

My keyfob also now takes many trys to lock the car (even when sat inside  right next to the rxer with new batterys) yet seems to unlock it on 1st go.

In past experience hard to find electrical faults = expensive :(

8
reported no errors so Ill leave worrying about it until next time - in which case ill remove the stereo 1st :)

Just a wounder my stereo is dead as I hate the crap JBC thing but am not about to spend out until my fuel consumption problem is sorted.

Kenwood 3024 - nothing special but did me.

Its def the stereo and with the stereo in the MIG flashes like an indicator lamp as does 2 lights on the stereo which doesn't work.

Stuck an old JVC in and everything is ok again :(

Thinking about it I haven't checked the rest of the cars electrics but I imagine they are ok.

Its the SRC and Q/AUD buttons that are flashing.

10
umm its screwed my stereo - an old one I have seems ok :(

11
Was the correct pins and didn't bridge any others.

Tried disconnecting stereo from power and the reset button. I'll try the battery in a bit. If that fails i'll try and old JVC I have.

12
Just did the paperclip test and all I got back was flashing 1-2

After this test my digital display (clock/computer) flashes as does 3 lights on my car stereo (kenwood) which won't turn on.

I have to remove the faceplate from the stereo to stop the digital display flashing.

Any ideas or is the stereo toast ?

cheers ill try it at the weekend :)

Its started opening/closing on its own whilst im driving and holding the close button not working half the time.

Closing holding the keyfod closes it mind you.

WIll the disk clean procedure fix this?

Omega General Help / Re: fuel computer accurate
« on: 24 January 2011, 14:47:00 »
The range jobbie on mine is always way out.

My 2 litre is getting about 60 miles for £20 at about 1.26 a litre.

TBH might bin it due to the fuel use...
