found the link myself in the "how to " section.. Seems like that extra mounting hole im talking about is another small link connecting the steering idler to the tie rod mounting.. :)
Cheers for helping guys.. i can reveal that just the Bushing in that steering idler here i Denmark cost“s 160£ incl. VAT at a Vauxhall dealership.

The steering idler in the link IS provided with the bushing as pictured in the link right? :-/

Kneepad.. Thanks.. But link not working! :)

RobG. : But that arm you just link to just have one mounting eye.. i would need one with both mounting for the steering centering arm and the tie rod.

I will try to get a picture in the morning, a simple mobile picture should clear things up  :)

its is not a wishbone bushing.
I think the correct term would be steering idler. The arm opposite of the steering box. There seems to be an arm on the steering box where the R/H tie rod is connected to. then there is a large arm reaching across underneath the car and attaches to the L/H arm ( steering idler.)  Is the L/H tie rod connected to the steering idler. ? If so its the same part we are talking about.

It seems like its this part im looking for. But the arm in the link only seem to have one hole in the end. the one im looking for has the tie rod connected to AND the steering helper arm that reaches from left side to right side under the car. ( does this make sense? )

Hello.

Im in the need of some help from you guys. My Omega MV6 has developed a loud "CLUNK" noise from the steering . I located the fault to be a bushing completely worn out.
Its the bushing in the steering arm opposite to the steering input arm. Reason i say it like that is that my car is LHD as im in Denmark. But the bushing should be the same no matter if it sits in the steering arm in the L/H side or the R/H side.
So i need help to find either a part number or a link to a place were i can buy such a bushing please.

and to try to be as clear as possible. if it was a UK car it would be the bushing in the passenger side steering arm underneath the car. The one the both the tie rod and steering helper arm is connected to.
If its very difficult to understand what part i talk about i will make sure to provide a couple of pictures.

Best regards
Jacob Hansen

thanks for all the reply“s guys.! Thats some good info.

Im a bit worried these days because i found that when i turn off the engine while hot, the coolant hoses gets REALLY hard.. Ofcourse they will expand a bit because the water is hot and not circulating because the engine is off.
I just think they are abnormal hard.
So i hoped that someone would respond that the device i uploaded a picture off, was an aux.waterpump designed to circulate hot coolant when engine was switched off.
Because that would explain why my coolant hoses got rock hard when engine was stopped. ( as in if that waterpump didnt work , i could be the reason.)

Omega General Help / help me identify an object in the cooling system
« on: 15 September 2010, 20:22:12 »
Hello.

Im hunting around for various faults and gremlings in my cooling system..
In recently bought this Omega MV6 auto with aircon. year 1995.
Can anyone tell me what the part on the picture below is, and what it does.?

Thank you.

Denmark yes.
Is not because of a severe Clima zone. I recently had an oil cooler leak into the cooling system, wich was not discovered untill the water in the header tank had turned into thick mayo. So i have been flushing the system around 20 times since the oil cooler replacement and the coolant is almost 100% free from oil now. ( clear water when drained. Just a small oil burb from time to time wich i think is because there still is some residues in the heater matrix . )
So all this flushing and sqeezing coolant hoses made me do alot of work around the cooling system , hence why i discovered the coolant hoses getting hard after engine shutdown.

On a sidenote... I did remove the rubber gasket inside the header tank cap as it grew to large because of the oil. But the filler cap seals perfekt and i have made sure that none of the two "valves" in the filler cap is stuck.. So it should have anything to do with the cap.
The temp gauge in the dash does move a bit when driving , from 90-95 degrees swinging back and forth and thats not dependant of speed or anything. The electric fans never have to start while driving..

the car has electric fans-. And they do start at around 95 degress when the engine is running. But i wonder why they dont start when i remove the keys if the car coolant is hot. i believe all my other cars has started the fan by itself. I know it wont do much as there is no flow because the waterpump doesnt run. Thats why i asked about the electric / aux waterpump.

the thing that really concerns me is the hard coolant hoses.

Hi again.

Still a rather new owner of a Omega MV6 from “95. A thing puzzles me.. When i get home ( i live near the freeway ) and i pull up in my driveway and turn the engine off. The fan doesnt start eventhough the car is hot, so hot that the coolant hoses pressurize and gets rather hard. When i put the keys back in the ignition and turn to ACC i can see the temp gauge is around 100 degrees.
Ofcourse if i start the engine and creates flow again the temp falls.. But shouldnt the fan start even if the car is turned off and the keys are out the ignition.? Are these cars equipped with an electric waterpump to circulate the coolant when the car is turned off?

Best regards
Jacob

Omega General Help / Re: Overheating.............
« on: 09 September 2010, 18:30:36 »
Hi.

Just want to check and see if you got any further info on this.
i just returned for a drive and the temp seemed to get a little high ( higher than normal ) and when i pulled over and rev“ed it a little the temp went back to normal. I leaned towards thinking about the waterpump as my radiator and both coolant hoses are hot. Only weird thing is that the top coolant hose seemed to be abnormal pressurize when i tried to sqeeze it. :-/

12
and found the other switch just below to coolant hose.. didnt see it before. sorry

ine didnt so I swapped it for another. It was when I was changing all the temp switches over that I found the film of sludge over them. Once they were cleaned my fans worked fine and with the replacement rad the temp problems have gone and all has been well for the last couple of years.Al

I“ve found that my fan doesnt start.. Probably because the temp. sensor is covered in oil film.. But im only able to find one temp switch at the radiator. Its with 3 connections and only start the 2 aircon fans in front of the condenser when they are bridged.
Where is the temp. switch that starts the cooling fan on the radiator?

thanks

i had the same problem with my 2.6 v6 2001 omega i brought the car with oil in water and i changed the oil cooler only had very little rust on it but had no dout i changed the right part after having advise on the problem by the helpfull people on the forum. This was only a couple of months ago flushed the system about 6 times and started to come clear the other problem was the fans would not kick in when the engine got hot and started to bubble it seamed somewhere had a airlock in the water i managed to clear it by taken the car out for a spin as would not clear on idle hope it helps  ;)

But as soon as my water starts to boil in the expansion tank, the temp gauge rises. Im not sure its a good idear to drive the car that way.. DA**it. And i was just starting to like the car before this..
I have a Vauxhall mechanic here in Denmark who keeps telling me its one of the headgaskets... And he thinks im stupid because i want to try all sorts of things instead of changing headgaskets. He thinks i could have changed them in the time i have spend spraying water all over the workshop trying to flush the cooling system. :-X

15
So... Update,.

Changed the oil cooler and apparently its still leaking oil into the water. ( its very hard to determine already as there keeps coming a little oil everytime i flush the coolant. But this can be due to the previous owner driving with the car like this for 14 days. )

but a new problem.! now its pressurizing the coolant container to a point where its starts to boil and overflow.
I checked and flushed the radiator and the coolant has good enough flow when checked with a large coolant hose off the system..

Any idear about whats playing up now.. Headgasket?

best regards
