Can anyone tell me if there is a line out or is it line in on my radio(think it is CDR 2005) on my GLS or has anyone found a way to play my MP3 player through it. I have one of those radio signal things which basically is rubbish. Have done a search but cannot find anything.

Omega General Help / Starting issue
« on: 11 May 2011, 18:50:39 »
Hi all

Need your help again.  This has happened twice in the last 3 weeks. Tried to start car and it just turns over without starting and the engine warning light flashes. Take key out, try again and it starts. Warning light stays on for approx 10 seconds then goes out. I suspect immobiliser issues. Has this happened to anyone else and more importantly what did they do to fix this problem. Is it just a key battery issue or something more complicated

Yes checked all drains they are all clear. Just read about similiar prob someone had. When engine is cranking on starter, if voltage on battery drops below 9v it upsets the settings on recirculation switch and it closes flap. You  need to press it on and then off again to reset it - very interesting - will give it a try.

Omega General Help / Misted windows
« on: 14 February 2011, 21:13:23 »
Hi Guys

Need your expert help again. Last month in the cold icy weather my screen and windows misted up badly, they just would not clear. Next day realised the recirculation flap had closed over the fan not allowing outside air in to the car. Lifted up the scuttle to view it and operated the switch and nothing happened. Then it worked intermittently. Connected laptop to car and it told me that "AIR QUALITY SENSOR" had an open circuit. Where is the air quality sensor situated - can I just disconnect or can I just gaffer tape the flap open at fan. Any help gratefully recieved

Many Thanks

Omega General Help / Re: Cam Sensor plug
« on: 20 October 2010, 00:24:41 »
Thanks for all the info guys. I think I will go back to dealers and ask them to order another one and see if I can get the right one for the plug on the original one which is fitted to the car.I have fitted a few of these over the years to numerous Omega's I have owned and never come across this problem. It seems to me that Vauxhall, in these financial times are just trying to squeeze another couple of pounds out of us by changing things that do not need changing. The parts Dept at dealers told me that they must have had a problem with the old sensors and changed supplier - Dont buy it myself. Will let you know how I get on

Omega General Help / Cam Sensor plug
« on: 19 October 2010, 18:07:21 »
Hi Guys

Well Jimbob was right - do not buy cheap cam sensors off the web LOL. Fitted it about 2 Months ago and now when in traffic and temp high, fan comes on and it runs and ticks over rough until it eventually cuts out and light comes on. test with Op Com says cam sensor. when going again and temp goes down light goes off and all is well. Anyway, got new one from Vauxhall dealer but the plug connector is the wrong one from my original.Spoke to Vauxhall who say that there is a wiring plug update for my new 2 ltr cam sensor that they now supply and wanted another £32 for this plug and numerous bits of wire, regardless to say I declined there offer.Has anyone come across this and more importantly how did you get round it. Was thinking about snipping off original plug and fitting spades to just push down on new sensor contacts. Any help gratefully recieved

There is slight play in steering wheel when moving it up and down and left and right and it feels for all the world the wheel is loose. If it is a steering column bush are they easy to do or would a new steering column be needed

Many Thanks

Omega General Help / Airbag removal
« on: 28 September 2010, 21:56:20 »
Hi Guys

Need to take off the steering wheel airbag as I suspect the steering wheel might be slightly loose and I want to check it. Can anyone tell me the procedure for taking off the airbag and what size (I suspect star drive) the bolts are.

Many Thanks

Misfire and poor running is now cured. It was the cam sensor after all.It now has new coil and crank sensor as well. Thanks to Jimbob, he cleared the codes and checked it live. All Ok except for what could be an intermittent MAF fault which does not show up when driving.

Steve :)

P.S Thanks James

Hi Mathewst

Starts from cold no probs - problem only arises when up to temp. It did cut out on Tuesday and would not start right away. Ordered a cam sensor from Vauxhall Car Parts online still waiting 6 days later Ho Hum I am sure it will be here tomorrow
