Omega General Help / Re: Throttle position sensor
« on: 28 March 2012, 17:40:07 »
Update, I had a bit of a panic on due to having to try and get the car through the MOT, which was'nt going to happen with the engine management light on. However, before diving into the wallet we swapped the new Cam Sensor with the old one which was replaced because of a Cam Sensor code previously. For whatever reason the car instantly ran better, engine warning light is out and straight through the MOT without any advisories ;D  My plan now is to strip the thottle body and clean it as we still have codes relating to the throttle body (throttle body sensor and throttle position sensor) although nothing got in the way of the MOT I'm assuming they will show themslves again. Am I following the right course of action, any other suggestions welcome. Also, is there anybody with a Tech2 in my area, South Devon :-\

Omega General Help / Throttle position sensor
« on: 27 March 2012, 17:25:03 »
Hi all, I was wondering if it was possible to check a throttle Position Sensor with a volt meter before changing it to confirm there are issues with it. Code reader says it is the problem, but I was wondering if the Throttle body itself was in need of a clean could this be pointing me in the wrong direction. Is it possible a dirty throttle body could do this. :-[

Hi all again,  Had the codes read again today, connected the code reader and cleared all codes, reconnected the cam sensor and started the engine. After switching the engine off read the codes as follows, P0120 - Throttle position sensor, P1120 - Accellerator pedal position sensor, P1550 - Electronic throttle control. Firstly, does this sound right taking into account the symptoms earlier in the feed, secondly, on one of the three codes the code reader specified Cam position sensor which does not tie in with the list I've just read. Please help as now totally confused >:(

Thanks mate, but lets not to be too hasty, we'll wait and see if the code reader throws up any new faults

Might help if I explain how the cars behaving, starting with new sensor is not as good as it was with the old one, throttle response is terrible and it just feels very underpowered. :'(

Omega General Help / Cam Sensor?
« on: 03 March 2012, 15:12:55 »
Hi all, I had my car connected to a code reader, I posted the code on here and was told it was the Cam Sensor (which ties in with something I read in the service history). I purchased a new genuine part from a member on here and fitted it today. The car was considerably worse with the new sensor fitted, disconnected the new sensor and ran it with no Cam Sensor and although obviously not right was better than with Cam Sensor connected. Any pointers would be gratefully received.
Regards

Omega General Help / Code assistance

Hi all
Just had the car fault codes read on 2.2cdx 02 plate at my sons garage, showed P1781 ecm actual torque signal malfunction detected. Checked on a list I found on here and can't find that code in the list. Warning light has since gone out, first light was engine electronics, that went out when I switched of and restarted the engine and was replaced by exhaust emission light which has also since stopped appearing. At no time was the running or starting affected. Anyone know what the message means in plain English please.

Having read the link that Dave DND kindly provided it seems the best option is to move to something entirely different and modern to achieve the sound I want, however, how much of the dash readout will I lose, will it just be the stereo information or will I lose outside temp, mpg, time and other functions?
