Thanks for the lightning response. I can see it now.

The connection to the vacuum chamber appears to have sheared off.

Cheers everyone.

Omega General Help / Unused Vacuum pipe
« on: 11 April 2007, 22:43:08 »
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum.

I have a 1999 2.5 V6 Auto (petrol) Omega estate. The Auxilary belt idler has just bit the dust, so I have repaced the idler and belt.  When I removed the air intake from in front of the engine to fit the belt I noted that there was a vauum pipe that was unconnected and I havent got a clue where it goes. It has a right angled rubber adaptor on the end with the numbers 08-26888 and GM 90 324 140. There is a vaccum present on this when the engine running, so I have plugged it for now (everything seems to work OK and here are no warning lights present).

There are 3 small black nylon pipes pipes that come across the top of the engine, one to the air intake, one to something else on the right hand side - and this one. it is too short to go to the air filter. Tracing th pipe back it seeks to enter the bulkhead.
It would not surprise me if the garage that did my head gasket last year (garage from hell!) forgot to connect this pipe. (it took 3 weeks and came back with a scratched wing on that occasion).

As usual, my Haynes manual is a total waste of space. >:(

Does anyone know where this pipe goes? Any help gratefully received. :)

Cheers Ray
