General Discussion Area / Re: Trump, JD, and Zelenskyy.
« on: 08 March 2025, 16:19:32 »
I'm finding it impossible to understand the motifs behind his decisions and directives other than the obvious .
As has been pointed out every announcement , action and speech has been to the whole and sole benefit of russia the country who only weeks ago threatend to lauch a hypersonic nuclear missle at America.
I'm stunned at the openly hostile approach to Ukraine and the willingness to allow civilian and military deaths to increase by the withdrawl of all the assistence that they had up to recently given.
It wildly reported that trump holds a grudge like no other person known and I keep coming back to the inciident where Ukraine refused to covertly investigate Biden at trumps behest .
If this has any bearing on his vile and repugnant approach to the way he is seeking to " stop all the killing of young men" then he is a warped and seriously demented individual.
I am deeply saddend that America , the country that I have warmed to all my life , has almost overnight turned into the antithesis of all that I hold high.
I was at best ambivalent towards him '17 -'21 but find him truly loathsome now .
I wonder how the American miltary machine feels at suddenly being ordered to stop assisting the foe of russia and turn to assisting their own foe of 75 years .

Putin is totally behind the devious machinations here , there is no other explanation.
Trump and that little c***sucker vance have alienated and thrown into confusion NATO , every western democratic country ( except Hungary ) , the EU as a whole, and the UK whilst at the same time humiliating Ukraine and Zelinsky on the world stage and also giving russia a seat at the big table again whilst espoucing the belief that poor russia is the victim in all of this .
All of this because he didn't get his share of the  mineral rights and Zelensky didn't wear a suit ?
No , the speed and intensity of all of this is because putin is desperate and needs trump to pony up now .....right now !
There is no diplomacy or etiquatte being displayed here , just brutal coertion .

It's conceivable that at a swipe of a pen trump will sign an exectutive order ceasing supply of all weaponry , ceasing sanctions ,musk switches off starlink and the satellite info closely guarded by America will be unavailable to ALL parties .
I hope that Mr & Mrs middle America are utterly disgusted with what trump has done allowing their long term enemy to control their direction in the world  stage .
This will get worse , quickly .

I think the lights will burn brightly in the corriders of power all across Europe and beyond tonight .
I'm now beyond confinced that putin has trump well and truly under his control.
In trumps first tenure russia was flying high awash with rubles and dollars so the demands were tolerable and largly unnoticed .
russia is in a perilous state economically and not winning the war against a smaller neighbour .
This time putins demands were simple and desperate in that trump had to dance from day one to allow him to defeat Ukraine and frighten NATO into believing that it was all powerful again....or else .
My belief is that what we witnessed was also fully planned to completely embarrass Macron and Starmer( and that oaf lammy )  who basicaly waved a piece of paper in their hand when they got home stating " I have in my hand ........" They should rightly feel utterly humiliated.
Special relationship ? ... that was erased  tonight .
I wish I could figure what the people of America feel tonight after watching that utterly unedifying spectacle .
I truly believe that we are more than one step closer to a European war now with an emboldend russia ,probably within 5 years , and possibly armed civil unrest in America .
It's like reading the history of the events leading to WW1 and 2 .
None of us will win from this .

The only obstacle to peace in Ukraine is Russia.

They could end this stupid futile war instantly by calling a ceasefire and withdrawing their troops.

Instead, in recent weeks we have seen them increasing the number and intensity of their attacks, especially on civilian targets.
That's actually true of Zelenskyy in equal measure. And as it goes, targeting sites deep into Russia is an escalation of its own as it takes the whole muddy mess far beyond the border skirmish that it actually is.

It's the equivalent of England occupying Offas Dyke and Wales bombing Norwich 'in retaliation'.

Three years in and nobody has lost or gained anything noteworthy.

Is that how you really see it ?

skirmish
(ˈskɜːmɪʃ IPA Pronunciation Guide)
noun
1. a minor short-lived military engagement
2. any brisk clash or encounter, usually of a minor nature

Trumps narrative is becoming more bizarre and concerning by the hour .
His accusations and portrayal of events is at odds with the world.
Frankly his negotiating tactics ,or lack of , are astounding for a man that believes he can sucessfully " do a deal " on his terms at each and every turn..
I just watched some footage of Republican Senators being quized on his performance and they were very uncomfortable and looked dazed .
Add his musings on Canada ,Panama, Greenland,Gaza and the Gulf and I begin to wonder what the voters of America have unleashed .
I'd struggle to think of one person who sees truth in what he claims , well apart from one close to this site ....., and therefore feel that there is a global discomfort as to where this will lead .
My thoughts are that if he capitulates and destroys the trust that Europe has in America and hands power and strength back to russia it will eventually lead to a European war that will have huge consequences for America whether it likes it or not .

Trump HAS to be beholding to putin for some reason , it's all I can think of .

“ I'm for peace, trustworthiness, freedom of speech and worship”

Thank god you live in Europe and not in Russia. You could have have been Navalny and poisoned for daring to have a sensible view compared to Putins czarism- make the poor poorer and reward oligarch mates.

I don't suffer from Russophobia (racism) like you lot.  ::)

Your slavish affection and nausiating verbosity portraying russia as some kind of admirable nation is to be pitied.

I think the fact that the russians are fighting for money whereas the Ukrainians are fighting for their country has to be considered .
Irrespective of what time line you place on the outcome that fact will have a huge bearing on the end game .
Big bully russia will never subjugate a country the size of Ukraine no matter what behind the door deals are made .
They're blood is in their soil .

russia never has been and never will be trusted , even more so now.

Mine is getting cosmetically scruffy now. Recent frost got under the lacquer on the bonnet and front of the roof and caused a lot of peel.
I still love driving it though and dont plan on ever getting rid of it.
Partially inspired by the number of people on here who regret no longer having one.
They are just a great old thing to drive, and minus some of the unnecessary complications of new cars.
When I got my first one - around 18 years ago - I soon had buyers remorse, as it had a most of the standard problems of a neglected Omega.
I searched the internet for answers and found OOF (which had just started up) and soon got the car back to full health, including replacing the autobox.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Downside is I have had to suffer STEMO for all that time.  ;D

S'funny but I can relate to that entirely.
Had mine 22 years now , have no use for it , don't actually need it as there are too many other vehicles in the fleet to be sensible but here we are only today eagerly spending several hundred on parts  for it's  NCT ( MOT ) .
It is a great old thing Albs and actually nicer to drive than the new Tiguan with it's ludicrous complexity and the reverse snobbery of driving an attractive old car makes me, and others ,  smile .
I've loved the old thing since I bought it and also  have no plans to let it go , ever . :y

Well we live in the real world and he's going to be protected , encapsulated and isolated for the duration of the sentence as the authorities are all too aware of the bounty on his head .
Potential sucide will be reduced or eliminated by the 24 hour monitoring that will also be awarded to him.

If I was to be given the option of some sort of subtle ad hoc debilitating punishment I'd have the collective witness statements continually being played in a loop in the background of his cell at a controlled variable volume that followed the ambient volume in the cell.So even if he had the capped volume of the TV( or device )  that he will heve on at high could still be audible .
It would be reduced at night to a level that his sub concious could still hear too .
24/7/365/52 /51 .

F''k him.

How to change the Left’s minds on migration
No doubt about the week’s most entertaining story. Last month in Paris, a Left-wing theatre group decided to host a special conference entitled “Reinventing the Welcome for Refugees in France”. And, in a noble demonstration of solidarity, the group offered free tickets to 250 mostly African migrants.

After the conference had ended, however, the migrants point-blank refused to leave. They occupied the theatre – and five weeks later, they’re still in there. Indeed, their numbers have now swollen to over 300, as more and more migrants rush to join them, undeterred by the overcrowding and increasingly unsanitary conditions. As a result, the theatre now faces financial ruin.

From my favourite right wing newspaper  :)

The Maire de Paris will send a couple of reps from one of the many ABTA approved companies that organise one way channel cruises with attractive discounts on offer .
The group  , shall we now call them foul luvvies , will be over here tout de suite  seeking the keys to the London Paladium from sadiq khan .
Sunday nights will never be the same ..... :)

I'd think that it would /will be impossible to have him removed from office due to the fact that the voting populace of London is by far predominatly non indigenous now. Another person who dislikes the UK culture and people will follow him , probably  more abhorrent than Khan.
This is a classic example of the shift that occurs when the balance is tipped in favour of that particular group or ethnicity , the power now lies with them and they can create the enviorment that they wish to the detrement of those that they now hold in contempt.
Unfortunately their values and social practices destroy all  that we hold dear .
London has long ceased to be reflective of the UK and has sunk into a sad shadow of it's former self .My wife was born in London and we spent time going back there almost weekly  in the mid to late 90's when we lived in Beds. There was a sea change occuring then but that world is all but gone now.
Other cities will follow, and soon.
I've recently watched some Youtube footage of life in London ,and UK as a whole, from the 60's /70's and even 80's and the change is quite astonishing and quite sad .
It makes me laugh when the featured couples on Escape to the Country programmes say that they wish to escape the cities " because it's so much busier " than years before ........Mmmm  ::)
And yeah , he's and obnoxious little man who deflects and avoids answering any questions that expose the deceit ,degeneration, danger and islamification of all that he now truly Lords over ......

Ireland has just passed an act identifying 79 different genders that have to be recognised by law , the presenting minister couldn'y pronounce some of them and had to stop for breath several times in the 25 minutes it took her to read them out .
I have no problem with anyone deciding to identify , dress and live as , well ....anything , but firmly believe that the birth gender should be sacrosanct .
Call yourself what you want but you are what you are from an official /administrative/ legal  point of view," piss standing up you go in that door , sitting down then that one's for you luv ......"
It's believed that < 150 people have had surgical sex change procedures in Ireland ,over an unknown or announced time period , but here we are again catering for the vast minority .
I read recently ( sorry can't find the source so correct me if I am wrong ) that in Scotland when anyone is being admitted to  A&E they are asked if they believe that they are pregnant , this includes males . ::)
I really do not understand why we waste time and effort  on this immensely uneccesary subject .

Vauxhall Corsa headlight bulbs have pissed me off today.  They were obviously far too easy to access as stand alone headlights so good old Vauxhall decided to fit the airbox to block the back of the offside light and a fuse box to block the nearside light. Airbox is a doddle to remove but you need midget hands for the nearside bulb. I can see why some people remove the headlights to do the job now.
The rear lights have to be removed completely to change a rear bulb but at least that is easy. What a faff for a two minute job.  ::)
.
My Daughter had a Ford KA a few years back & I was asked to change one of the headlight bulbs on it for her,  cut a long story short I almost resorted to calling the fire brigade to get my hand out of the front panel, absolutely ridiculous the way it had been positioned.

Yep , same as the left hand DRL bulb on a Skoda Yeti .It took two weeks for the cuts and grazes to heal . >:(
