Omega General Help / Coolant leak
« on: 31 October 2007, 20:30:11 »
I reckon i know the answer i am just after a bit of confirmation.
As stated in an earlier post i had a rather large coolant leak, refilled coolant bottle etc and went on a decent run 70 miles with no climate on, checked for leaks after journey and no indication of any would this suggest the HBV is nacked??? Or could this be a hose coming from this I only fitted HBV five months ago will this be covered by warranty.

Omega General Help / Re: mot failure

Hi James
Nice to see you are still passing on your wisdom. He mentions all brake pipes front and back on both sides - do you think he may be being a bit overzealous? I am hoping i can give them a good brushing and smear with grease, i can imagine a full replacement would be expensive and a real pain.

Omega General Help / mot failure
« on: 22 October 2007, 20:36:01 »
Hello all been a while since i have been in the forum work commitments etc. Car failed MOT today just after a bit of advice
Report states offside outer track rod end ball joint has excessive play-- Am i as well changing just this or doing the whole arm as in maintenance guides i think i am able to follow this well written how to.

The recommendations that are getting to me are - It says brake pipes are excessively corroded, however the tester said they may be ok if i can give them a rub to show corrosion is superficial (bit wary of this) Are they easy to replace ? Is access to these a nightmare ? and what cost would a new set be ?? Hope i have described enough for you to provide answer.

Thanks Ben

Omega General Help / Oil Cooler??
« on: 14 July 2007, 10:28:24 »
I think i know the answer but just after a bit of confirmation;- Car is losing about 1 litre of coolant every 3 weeks or so, i doubt it will be the HBV as JamesV6 changed this approx 2 months ago. Also car seems a bit hot when walking past drivers side after a decent run, but temp gauge remains between 94-97 ish. Any suggestions please??

PS James you may need to get your tool kit ready again.

Omega General Help / aux belt tensioner

Am i ok just to remove plastic type wheel and replace or do i need to replace the complete tensioner which i have just obtained- appears to be only 2 bolts but access is a pig will need to strip things down a bit to allow full relacement as opposed 1 bolt easy access 10 minute job.

Hope it all goes well but as the others have said, never be too trusting. :y

I am always a bit dubious about away meeting people away from their home or place of business, i would ask him to bring along some form of additional ID. So at least you can check all names at bank and what he possesse are the same. Mechanically wise i wouldnt have a clue. If it went and wasnt noisy that would do me!!! :-/
