Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: omega battery
« on: 04 August 2012, 14:49:10 »
Thanks Andy -seems I spoke too soon - when I checked again it had steadied on yellow and had enough charge to start the car.
It's a Selmar Star charger which belonged to my Dad so must be at least 25 years old but still appears to be in good order.
My worry was had I left battery flat too long as I'd never noticed the flicking back and forth before.
Anyway I've learnt a bit more today about chargers which I'd always taken for granted.

Many thanks for your help.

I SORNed my Omega (2003 2.6cdx auto) nearly a year ago but have charged battery every now and again to start and move it - I've got an old trickle charger which seems to do the trick.
Today put it on charge and noticed charger needle goes to red for 30sec or so then flicks back to blue for same then back to red etc.
Does this mean battery is US or is this normal? (Never noticed before).
It seems to be putting a bit of charge back as instruments light up but havn't managed to start yet.

Omega General Help / Re: wheel bearings
« on: 13 October 2011, 13:15:55 »
Thanks for all your replies.
Bearings were fitted by my local Unipart carcare centre who do all my servicing etc.
Parts used are down as Hub Bearing Kit GHK1348. Does this mean anything to you?

I will also check they are getting correct bearing.

Omega General Help / wheel bearings
« on: 13 October 2011, 11:03:22 »
I had to replace rear nearside wheel bearing at 63,000 miles and rear offside at 72,000 miles. That was December 2009 and August 2010 respectively.
Rear offside has gone again at 86,000 miles. Admittedly done a bit more mileage this last year but has anyone else suffered this repeat problem so soon and any clues as to what's going wrong? Is it time to get rid?
03 reg Omega 2.6CDX Estate - had since 20,000 miles, 3 years old - previous owner towed caravan and fitted Monroe air suspension assist.

Omega General Help / door locks
« on: 04 October 2010, 12:09:35 »
Hi there, I'm new today to the forum and looking for some guidance on removing door panels to access faulty drivers door locking. I have 2003 omega 2.6 cdx estate. Have removed screws and think mock wood strip is perhaps next step but don't want to force it?
Any help appreciated.

Hi just discovered your forum and registered today. I have had 4 omegas since about 1993 - three 2 litre cd auto saloons and since 2006 an 03 reg 2.6 cdx auto estate. Such a lot of car for a reasonable outlay but a bit annoying when electronic things in particular start to go wrong.
I've posted a general question about door locks today - my reason for searching and finding the forum.
Hoping for some good advice.
Cheers
Mel
