She’s Tizian red, ex NI police car. Full service and cambelt change is next on the list for it :y

I previously had a 2.5 facelift and it was a comfy old bus, fuel economy was woeful tho lol, I was originally going to sell this 1 but now that I’ve got it running and see that all the electrics work as they should I think I will keep it and get it back on the road. I’ve done a bit of digging into its history and it’s an ex undercover police car and seems to be quite scarce in red.

Little update, replaced the fuel filter and in tank pump, blew out the lines and gave the tank a clean and she fired up after a few seconds. Seems to be ticking over quite nicely for a car that hasn’t been started in 14 years. Thanks for the advice guys.

Thankfully the eml is not flashing and there is power going to the fuel pump but no fuel getting to the engine. I’ve bought a new pump and filter so will start with those.

Omega General Help / Recommissioning a barn find mv6

Hi guys, been about 15 years since I last owned an omega, but I have very recently acquired a pre facelift 99 3.0 mv6 manual with 54k miles that has been dry stored in a barn from 2011. She is currently a non runner but engine is turning over freely by hand and also in the key, I have spark but no fuel, I’m guessing fuel pump and fuel filter are my main issues but is there anything else I should be looking at? Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: Brake Pad Wear Sensor

Think I will try shorting the sensor out for the time being til I get a new 1 as it is quite annoying having to cancel the warning everytime I start the car. Lol

Brake pad warning keeps coming up on my display everytime I start the car, checked the pads tonight and they are fine, def not low enough for a warning, the only thing I noticed was a broken white plug tied to the ABS sensor wire on the drivers side, any ideas what this is?
Is there a wear sensor on both front brakes?

Are you SURE its a brake pad warning .. and not "brake check" ??? This occurs everytime as the system checks the BRAKE LIGHTS .. it goes out once you touch the brake pedal and complete the circuit.

AFAIK if the brake pad wear indicator circuit is activated then the light on the instrument panel will be on..

Yes mate it says Brake pad on the display after the brake check has been cleared.

Bit of an update, problem was traced to a brittle wire between the ECU and crank sensor, car is now fixed and running and is now currently for sale as I have now lost any confidence in the car. Its been more trouble than it was worth so I just want rid of it now.  :(

Thanks for the advice mate, my biggest prob is that im in Northern Ireland so I dont think any1 is close enough to take a look at her.  :(  I will tell the mechanic to check the timing 2moro before he does anything else, anything is worth a shot at the minute.

Mechanic checked wiring between crank sensor and ECU today, no faults found, reckons it has to be a fault in the ECU. Some 1 told me it could be related to the transponder in the key being faulty, would this cause the engine to cut out and log the code for crank sensor tho?

Yes it came as part of the new sensor mate, its sealed onto the sensor with the oval type plug at the other end.

New DIS pack fitted today, car started fine but is still missfiring and then cutting out as before and logging the code for crank sensor as well, any ideas? Mechanic is going to check crank sensor to ECU wiring tomorrow, but other than there being a breakage he thinks it may be a fault in the ECU.

Sorry to hear you're still having problems with this.  :(
When you changed the crank sensor last time didn't you get a new wire/plug with it?

Do u mean the wire that runs from the crank sensor to the plug near the DIS pack?
