Omega General Help / Misfire when cold 3.0 V6
« on: 13 February 2009, 16:11:59 »
Well, it's proving to be quite hard to figure out what's wrong with my Omega.
I've changed the HT leads and the Coil Pack, and the plugs are fairly new and all in good condition.
What else could be causing it?
It's a noticebale misfire, which is not as bad when the engine has warmed up a bit, but is still present.

Any helpful suggestions would be very welcome, especially if they are cheap solutions lol

Well armed with this information and a trusty (though not entirely helpful) Haynes manual I should have it fixed in no time.

I think I'll just finish my lunch first lol

Thanks guys  :)

Has anyone got any pictures or diagrams showing the route the long belt on the front of the engine (between the front of the engine and the back of the radiator) takes on a 3.0 V6 Omega with air con. Mine has stripped and come off, and I can't figure out where it goes.  >:(

Omega General Help / Re: On board computer saying "Oil lack" ????
« on: 28 November 2007, 22:52:43 »
I didn't get any oil warning, i've had both in the past, and my rocker gaskets/blocked breathers did need doing.

Actually that's why I don't have my car at the moment. I knew they needed doing, but put it off. The result of putting it off? Waiting for half an hour on the side of the motorway for the AA to come and recover me and my car.
However, am I right in thinking that having oil in the plugs (even a considerable amount) would not explain why it just cut out on me with no warning? I mean it didn't go rough, or lumpy, it just cut out.

And just before the AA arrived the hazards stopped flashing and the lights dimmed (flat battery). Is this a sign that something else is wrong as well? Possibly alternator/or just tired battery? or something more serious (ie expensive?)

(Sorry for the hijack)

IrmscherKris - Where's the protection board? It won't work without it.

Ahhhh. I did look in there, but couldn't see anything that looked like an ECU (ie not like a normal relay or fuse) but first thing tomorrow I'll be back out there and fettling- and this time I know what I'm looking for  :y

Omega General Help / Fitting a superchip
« on: 04 November 2007, 21:36:29 »
OK, I've got hold of a superchip for my car but having spent a little time familiarising myself with the engine bay (ie standing there looking at it blankly) I can honestly say I have no idea where the bloody thing goes.
I'm sorry, I know it sounds REALLY dense but I'm not really very mechanically minded :-[
I've looked throughloads of the previous threads on here but can't find anything to help, and having looked at the engine bay pics on here I still can't see where it goes. I may just be going blind though  :o

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(It's the X30XE engine)

Omega General Help / Re: Power steering pump on 3.0 v6
« on: 23 April 2007, 12:57:47 »
:) Thanks guys, I'm getting it fixed this week, going to have a recon unit fitted.

Only problem is when I dropped it off at my mates garage to be fixed we noticed a little oil leak around the rear of the head. Still, it might be ok just tightened up, failing that it'll be going back in next month to have new seals fitted.
Oh well, nobody said owning a car would be cheap or easy, but at least it's fun!

Omega General Help / Power steering pump on 3.0 v6
« on: 15 April 2007, 12:42:46 »
Hello.
I've got a problem with the power steering on my omega. It works, but only at higher engine speeds. I've read the other messages on this forum, and VxON, and I think it's a tired power steering pump.
So, does anyone know the part number, and how much I can expect to pay?
Halfrauds have just quoted me over £200, so improvements on that would be good!

Oh, and the problem was caused by me showing off the advantages of rear wheel drive to my stupid hot hatch owning mates. Donuts- I like them, my car doesn't  :-/

The law?

No, it wasn't me. It wasn't my car. What CCTV? I don't know what you're talking about. I can't even drive. I wasn't even in the country that day. I was at work. etc etc etc

...I thought I should say hi in here anyway, as I never got round to it before.
So, hello everyone.
I have already posted a few times, and I actually joined to find out what I had broken when I did this:

And yes, it was the power steering pump.

I'm now waiting for my superchip to arrive from ImscherKris, and I'm also thinking about getting a second hand bonnet (£20 from my local scrappy- bargain) to have a bit of a play around with to see if I can get more cold air into my engine bay. Think cutting, and meshing and you'll see what I mean.
I'd also like to stiffen the car up a bit as it can be a bit wallowy (when coming off roundabouts sideways), but I don't want to reduce the comfort too much, any ideas are welcome.
