Omega General Help / Stearing
« on: 28 August 2012, 20:11:46 »
Hi All, my 2.2 CD failed its MOT today, it needs a new idler arm. I'm a bit confused about the other section as no motor factor can name it or sell it apart from a main dealer. The part number is 90445587 and it looks as if it sits in the larger ring of the idle arm, with a bush. Has anyone got any ideas. Please advise if you have.

Omega General Help / Wheel bearing
« on: 30 December 2010, 20:43:35 »
Hello Omega buddies,

I've a problem, I need to look at the left side wheel bearing, but the top bolt on the caliper mounting is being a bitch....I've ruined 4 x 18mm sockets trying to get the bugger out, it just won't budge.....It's now starting to round off can anyone suggest anything.

Also does anyone know the size socket I will need to tackle the main bolt on the hub. I'd like to thank you in advance..Happy New Year to all on the Forum.

Omega General Help / Sort of a whirring noise as I get faster
« on: 12 December 2010, 09:59:50 »
Hi chaps, during the snow period, I lost control of my 2.2 cd and whacked a curb side ways. The actual bang was really loud as I hit the Kerb with 2 wheels.

Used it for the first time yesterday, had music on etc thought everything was fine but as I was approaching the motorway and getting faster the whirring noise got louder and I feel the wheel pulling to the left, which is the side that got whacked.

I was thinking the bearing. I'm gonna have a look in a minute any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

Hi, I have the same car. I've had so much trouble with limp mode etc but sorted it by buying a code reader and understanding the problem. In short the gearbox is sealed but I drained it of oil from the drain plug 13 mm spanner. I then undone the sump gave it all clean up. But I found you cannot top up all in one go. I get as much oil as I can in, without it all pouring out again. I then tighten up the plug start the engine slowly drive half a mile and repeat the process until I match the oil volume Ive taken out. However if you have a preasured pump this may work better. That's how I changed my gearbox oil, and I get smoother changes now.

Hi,

I've a 2.2 cd 2001 and the Paper clip test don't work I've tried it, beleive me. I've been plagued with engine management lights and limp mode. The best thing I can suggest is go on eBay and buy a code reader. I bought one for 20 quid and I've used it 4 times. A garage will charge 20-30 quid to read and clear the codes. This will then tell you your fault. Good luck.

How do, my fellow Omega buddies, does anyone have a link or knowledge where I can purchase new bumpers. I backed into a truck today and scuffed up my rear bumper...

Omega General Help / Manual mode
« on: 26 October 2010, 22:44:50 »
Hi all, I'm a frustrated owner of a 2.2 auto 2001. I've fitted a new exhaust and everything  was fine. Until I got the dredded spanner light the other morning. If I let the engine warm upto hot through idling turn it off and restart the spanner light goes off and I then get the managment light instead.

If I unclip the first O2 senser, restart the car it tells me through the traffic master it's in manual mode and I can drive it with the managment light on. I know I've goto getvthe codes read, I plan to buy a reader from Argos, does anyone have any thoughts???

Hi all,

Im new to this site, it seems fantastic, I would really appreciate some feed back from likewise Omega owners about my problem. I fitted a new exhaust after a million problems with limp mode and emission lights. Ive had no problems for 3 months andthe other day Bingo...I got the dredded spanner on my dash. So I let the engine warm up restarted,it came out of limp mode and the spanner changed to engine managment light, after a few miles it went out. Got in the car early this morning, spanner light came on, but didnt have enough time to let it warm up...I know I need the codes read but I thought someone out their may have an idea.....had to use the wifes car.. I look like the honey monster in her 206!!!!
