Omega General Help / timing belt

I have only just bought an Omega (1 week ago) and the timing belt has gone. I have a quote off the garage off £500 to £600,was just wondering if this was a correct estimate or way off

its a vauxhall omega, m reg 2 ltr saloon, petrol
