I guess if it can be got going, a trip to a real Tech2 to double check if there is any underlying issue that the Maxscan couldn't see.

Trouble is, I guess its a long way to Alton or Brackley.

If I'm honest, I was expecting to see a 0340 along with something else.

It runs ok but is SORNed at the moment, and I think 99% of OOF expected an 0340 !!!:)
Does it start on the button now?

If so, that normally a sign that cam sensor sort of works OK

started it 6-8 times without any problems ... I've advised to let it cool down and try tomorrow when cold ........ (I'll make sure they don't have my number !!!!!  :)

Update : (Entwood on Janines machine :) )

Read the codes .. none showing on Engine, but 3 on transmission ... forgot to write them down .. :(

Cleared all the codes, then tried to start it, very reluctant to start, turning over and attempting to fire, eventually caught on 3, quickly went to all 4. Engine has not been started since it broke down mid-december. No faults showing, the GS500 won't do live data on this one for some reason.. so a bit stumped.

Vehicle is SORNed so couldn't drive it .. but in moving small distances on the drive I found that passing through positions 1 & 2 on the auto selector ALL the lights on the selector unit flash randomly .. ok at all other positions ....  makes me wonder if the selector needs a damned good clean ??.

Ran it for 30 minutes .. all seemed fine .. stopped and started 6 times without any problems.

Other problems, unrelated .... ABS ECU is FUBAR ... ABS light on /no speedo (apparently sometimes the speedo works and the light goes out ...  :)

Coolant level sensor knacked .. low level warning but fluid level fine

A few other minor odds and sods but for what they paid its a bargain....  :)

My recommendation is to leave it overnight to get cold again then try and start it .. if it starts OK having not been driven it sort of discounts cam- crank - sensors.

Then, when happy, and after cleaning the selector, try driving around the block a few times and see if the gearbox faults come back.

Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

Omega General Help / 2.2 omega haynes manuals
« on: 08 January 2011, 14:12:28 »
my poor car has been sat outside the house for a while now not starting, i have had some great help from jamesv6 who came to the rescue with a code reader he is still trying to help me but due to christmas and work commitments and of coarse the great british weather i cant expect him to come to me from miles away and keep trying different things his generosity was and still is amazing, i am trying to find a haynes manual for my 2000 plate 2.2 16v auto omega so that when james can not be here then at least we can be trying things that have been suggested, i dont mind getting hands dirty but need to know what i am looking for as alot of this car is electronic where as we are used to the older cars and i dont wish to damage it any more . . .  if anyone can point me in the right direction i have been to the usual shops and been told they dont do one past a 1999 plate?? have i been fobbed off????? :D :-? any help would be great many thanks :D

Omega General Help / omega 2.2 auto???
« on: 20 December 2010, 22:35:48 »
hi all! i hope i am doing this right as never done anything like this before? . . i have a year 2000 2.2 auto which i bought about two weeks ago and broke down this week  :'( i was advised by RAC  :-X that it was most probably the crank sensor but his computor would not connect to the car? now i have been looking through this helpful site and i have joined as i am completly stuck now.  I was going to try the pedal trick, then also the paper clip trick but yet again i fell at the first hurdle as my car needs to have its codes read and i can't cheat  . . . to be honest i cant afford to get the car anywhere to get them read, and i don't want to buy a sensor if this does not cure it, as sensors are none returnable.  All the manuals i have found only go upto 1999 if i new where to look for the sensor it may have just come lose?? i would be most gratful if anyone can help in any info :-?

You won't regret it ... and if I can suggest it ... get a "Countrywide" account ... cheaper than most commercial outlets other than ASDA/Morrisons .. oh how I wish they would open in Swindon .. :(

KW is the guy to talk to about drilling your inlet fanimold.. easily does the best job in town .. :)

hi, dont know if this helps you, my dad has a 'countrywide' account and does fill up his lpg in swindon on the hawksworth industial estate didn't mean to butt in but hope this helps :-/ :-/ can give full address if needed :)
