hi mate, when these manifold gaskets are replaced now with a metal/stainless one in place of the paper/cardboard originals,it will be a very long time before you have to do it all again,as much more heavy duty,i would sooner do cam belt or cam cover gaskets than them?,good luck, curly.

Omega General Help / Re: Dis Pack
« on: 19 June 2008, 22:45:19 »
hi mate, the dis-pack normally causes bad mis-fire on cold start as normally gets moisture in,as engine warms up dries dis-pack out mis-fire goes, have you checked h.t. lead ends that go on plugs if they are oil soaked or arking out?the dis-paks normlly spit around the joint of where they mould them,if its that bad you would see or hear spark jumping, especially now its dark?,have you also put the leads on correct terminal of pack&fireing order? good luck, curly.

Omega General Help / Re: v6 engine help needed

hi mate, when u get the new cooler purchase the sealant that goes on the gasket free sumps(white)and  make sure the face on block is really clean before you fit the cooler with new sealant, also when you have re-assemled every thing before you put the new anti freeze in obtain some chemical that can be diluted to remove all the oil deposits from header tank, hoses, heater rad, radiator etc,let engine idle for 10mins then let cool down and flush with hose, repeat until u think its removed as much as poss,i have even used small amounts of washing powder diluted which breaks the oil down then hose pipe pushes it out with bubbles??then add the 3ltrs a/freeze top up to level, should be ok then, good luck.curly

hi mate,i think if it was mine i would be checking the cam belt as it seems a bit strange after the 15 miles coverd its suddenly stopped and no eml on,was it tensioned in the correct sequence?may be to loose and jumped,it seems a bit of coincidence its just packed up like that, the other thing i have had like that is the crank rubber damper disintegrates and doesnt turn to pick up tdc to tell engine to fire which doesnt bring fault code up either,as that would of been disturbed to do belt, good luck mate, curly

Omega General Help / Re: Steering Idler Arm (How Many ?)
« on: 07 June 2007, 23:30:36 »
hi mate, also check the drag link arm joints, but more commonly could be the lower suspension arm bushes as they give a bad vibration and excess free play, normally the back bushes of the arm tend to split away, put a small bar between arm and subframe and apply pressure to see if split or how much it moves the road wheel back&forth, good luck, curly

Omega General Help / Re: hand brake adjustment
« on: 04 June 2007, 23:23:58 »
hi mate, when you take wheels off you will see disc,in between were wheel bolts fit there is hole,if you position this at around 12 oclock position and apply a bright light through the hole you will see a bar with a knurled nut on it,obtain a medium width screwdriver and engage it onto the nut and on the n/s turn it upwards to adjust the shoes inside disc outwards, keep doing that till the disc gets tight, then back it off 3 clicks and disc should turn ok,do the same on o/s but turn nut downwards to tighten, then back off 3 clicks, the lever should then be on 3-4 clicks inside car, recheck discs still turn freely, job done, fit wheels torque wheel nuts to 110nm,curly

« on: 14 May 2007, 23:10:53 »
hi mate,99%would suggest when the new shocks were put on the metal insert that sits in the middle of the bushes has not been fitted,as when you get the shocks that part never comes with them, you have to use the old ones which then seats the bushes together and centralises shock,so who ever changed them has left that part on old shock stuck possibly in one of the old bushes, thus why the nut has been tightened to end of thread nothing to lock it on to,lets hope they havent been thrown away??hope this resolves yourn noise from rear,(CAR),good luck, curly

Omega General Help / Re: CamShaft Sensor
« on: 24 May 2007, 22:42:41 »
really sounds like you need the vauxhall tech 2 or snap on scanner to run through the system mate, also make sure the battery is in good state of charge you must have 12.5volts or more for the system to clear, curly

hi mate,as the 2 codes are stored it means they are present and a malfuntion as occured, when you fit the required new parts these have to be cleared to reset the ecu which is done with ignition on and tech 2 or scanner machine, then the eml light goes out and should then run ok,i think at the moment if the the crank sensor not come up would leave it as bit fidly to do ok,cheers curly

hi mate, its only a suggestion if your losing oil like that i think i would check the breather system as it seems like its building up pressure possibly in the sump then pushing it out of the seals/gskets,also as a quick check start the engine and remove the dipstick see if you feel pressure or any heavy signs of fumes or smoke emitting from dipstick tube,if it does you no then you have crank case compression building up in sump, and the oil viscosity wont make any differance then, hope it helps you out & good luck, curly

hi mate, the cam sensor is situated behind the black cover at front of engine were the cam belt is,you have to remove the big auxillary belt first to get to retaining torx bolts in cover, the sensor is then in front of you on the inlet/left side of cam with two 8mm torx bolts and a lead connected to plug around the manifold area then just pulls off block,it sounds like his damaged/cracked it in doing repair as this puts the engine into limp home and stops it revving above 2500rpm stationary or driving, hope helps you out ,good luck, curly.

hi mate,if you add to much antifreeze to the system it can slow the cooling down as it becomes thicker the hotter it gets,so on omegas normally the coolant should run at 50% which normally equates for a v6 3litres to be added on a complete drain off,2litres on 2.0ltr&2.2 16v drain&refill,i take it you have some form of blockage/corrosion?overheating?little trick i have used more so older cars were heater rads block is buy a bottle of caustic soda, get an old watering can/bucket,add 50%water (cold)then carefully add 50%of the soda toit and it builds up heat add it slowly to the empty system and fill it till just see it in header tank leave 4 15mins release from system, dont start engine with this in??get garden hose and flush out crap, then back flush it from the hose that released it,,curly up through header tank,if you had a blockage that should sort it,note do not get the solution on skin as it burns ok mate
