Omega General Help / Just looking for some advice on a purchase..
« on: 19 January 2011, 22:46:47 »
My father was at a garage today with his van and the mechanic has an Omega outside that he said is for sale. He just wants shut of it really and has offered him it for a very low price. Has a years MOT, no tax but has full leather interior and alot of gadgets apprently, and according to my father its in a lovley royal blue colour?
I have to appologise my dad doesn't know an awful lot about cars, so I have no idea what trim level it is, but I suspect its a CD or CDX with it having leather?
Its a very low mileage car, only done 40k miles, was owned by an old bloke and couldnt cope with it after his wife had died. I have been doing insurance quotes with my father as the policy holder and owner of the car, and myself as a named driver. Im 24, held licence for 5 years, however only have 1ncb and 6 points for speed related offences. The Omega in question is a 2.5 v6 and I didnt have the registration to bring up the details for insurance.. im getting ridiculous quotes of £1100!! This is based on the reg of another i found on Pistonheads, a 2.6 MV6. I was told by a friend that MV6's only came in the 3.2 version but parkers and the insurance say otherwise (2.6, 3.0 and 3.2). Who is correct, and any pointers on what to look out for as Im going for a look at it tomorrow. I have no idea when it comes to vauxhalls, Im a VW man myself.
Ps, what are they like on fuel? Im not expecting excellent fuel economey on an engine of that size hooked to an auto box.
