Having bought brand new GM exhaust parts for an Omega I would save your money. Their new ones are nothing but pattern parts with GM stamped on them. A factors will give you an identicle part for a third of the price and a better warranty. I have bought two systems, the first was an OE fit, the second some cheap junk. As it was special order not a lot I could do other than fit it.
I have used Walker systems since on a cavalier. Good product with a decent warranty

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Which Radio/Cd player?
« on: 08 July 2009, 17:43:43 »
I am considering upgrading my Radio to the CCRT700.
A few queries as to whether its worth doing. I am unsure as to which stereo & cd player I currently have fitted. All I know its a Philips head unit & a Blaupunkt Cd player. The head unit has Bose written on it where on previous cars I have owned have had the ccr*** number. Would it entail changing them as a pair and would the wiring already be in place for the microphone. I do have the roof ariel I noticed when I changed the heater control bulbs a blue & black wire taped up. Are these used for the phone system.
Hmm that was more than a couple of questions i know lol.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks Jez  :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm?
« on: 05 April 2009, 13:20:25 »
Hello. Just a bit advice regarding a possible alarm fault on my old car.
Its a 1996 Elite 3.0 auto. Ther person i sold it to called last night to say there was a high pitched sound coming from the area of the engine bay near the drivers side suspension turret.
Now whn i had the car i had the covers off when i changed that cam cover gaskets, stc. I was sure the car did no t have a powwr sounder fitted. Could anyone confirm if this ids correct please? Could you also provide any possible pointers as to what the problem may be if its not the alarm. I asked and the car has been used regularly so the likelyhood of a flat batters is low.
Many thanks, Jez

Sorry to drag this subject up again. I just had a lightbulb moment. Regarding the legality, I am sure I saw That Edd China bloke fit an after markey set onto a Lexus on that bring a wreck back to life & flog it for a fortune show fronted my Mike Brewer. Or have they put in legislation since that would have been made?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / In car phone
« on: 16 July 2008, 03:33:03 »
Hi, am toying with the idea of upgrading the stereo on my miggy.
I have 98 Elite. Has the Phillips/Bose headunit, 6 disc changer & satnav. Is it a simple job to add the Radio with the Inbuilt telephone? I have had a hunt about for a thread that touches on this and found only one. This was same radio going into a cdx. Is this a viable option or would a cradle make more sense. Personally I am mot a fan but needs must.
Thanks in advance, Jez.
Ps not sure of the model numbers of steroes, apologies.

Mine gave me grief recently, advised on here battery was most likely shot. enquired at stealers about replacement. Was just over £150. I would have been prepared to pay upto £50 but that was a mugging.
Theft basically considering they are sealed, vauxhall should offer parts that expire at a reduced cost.
Bloke at dealers was not impressed when I said vaux were a bunch of robbing b******s.  ;D
Do a search for posts on here as one i saw mentioned splitting the sounder & replacing the battery, only good if the old one has not leaked btw

Thanks for the replies so far. When this farce started on friday I ttook the car out for a half hour drive to give it a spurt f juice so to speak. Yesterday evening it went off for no reson again, 30 seconds then stopped then a again for 4 or so seconds then stopped then 4 seconds then I took it out for another half hour drive. Alarm went off once whilst driving. Only for a few seconds. I parked car up again unlocked & it goes off once every 5-6 hours only for the 30 seconds. Car will now be off the road fro a few days as it will be having the gearbox changed. Will try putting the battery charger on for a bit to see if this helps.

Where would the alarm sounder be on a 98 car & how would you shut it up?

Weel seems a mouse was not the problem, swapped cars over 7 put this one back on a near lever surface & alarm has stopped going off. Managed to lock it with key, will brave tomorrow. Heres hoping for a quiet night.
Any ideas on what difference a slope would seemingly make, although i believe this theory to be unrealistic

Hi all, alarm is going off even when car is unlocked. Car had been parked up for a week with no problem until today. I swapped the cars about. Was fine for three hours until an hour ago now keeps going off. Only way to stop is to leave the key in the ignition with it switched on, not running. Remote will open & lock the car but not shut the alarm system. Even tried disconnecting battery withing 15 secs of ignition being switched off. Alarm immediately sounded. Perfect timing as usual now sun is going down. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks
