Manual Box Short Shift swap.
« on: 29 February 2012, 18:24:07 »

Getting rid of an 3.0 Ex Plod over the next few days, so took for a Italian Tune Up to see if anything was going to break on me.

Whilst driving I noticed its got a Short Shift gear lever fitted, a good 1.5" lower than normal, TBH never noticed before or come across one from memory, where they ever fitted to Factory Specs?

Anyway decided to keep it and swop it for normal tomorrow, had a quick butchers and it looks like its held in by 2 grub screws front and back towards the bottom of the lever, so before I start is it a straight swop?, or am I thinking too simple hear and there's more to it.

Nope. Owners tend to shorten existing lever

Dont know is the honest answer, had a few plods now, never noticed it before TBH, on  driving diffidently improves the driveability when gear changing works nice with the LSD on a country road!!

The leather Gear Gator wont fit properly TBH, will take some pics and post up if your interested.
