Borrowing a MAF sensor - Wirral area
« on: 08 March 2012, 13:31:09 »

Hi again guys.

Right put new plugs in the car today and got nowhere with it. Still coughing and spluttering and won't drive on gas. The next thing to eliminate is the MAF sensor. I've been to VX and they want £120 for a new one, way too much as just a stab in the dark. Is there anyone in the Wirral area with a 2.2 that will let me swap theirs into mine to see if it runs ok with a good airflow sensor? It's for a 2.2.

Cheers.

Right, drives great without the MAF plugged in, the hunting is gone and it drives fine on gas. I plugged it back in and it still drove on gas but the hunting was back on gas and petrol like before. Knackered MAF?

New MAF fitted.

OH MY GOD.

It's got power again, and quite a lot of it!

It wouldn't even redline in neutral on gas before, believe me it feels like a rocketship now!

It's getting better, can't believe how much of a change it's made to it. If anyone else gets similar symptoms, unplug the maf first!
